If you can go fishing now is the time to do it. With the warmer days we have been having the spring bite is starting to happen but the winter time fish are still here and feeding, so the whole gang is feeding. Here are some of the pictures from today's fishing charter, they ended catching 10 species.

Water temps have been in the 50' so the fish are stacked up at the freshwater springs that are put there . They are in deeper water so my 8hr and 11hr are best for trips to the springs . Hogfish , and other reef fish are still biting closer to shore . On my last 11 hr to a spring we caught a limit of huge yellowtail and mangrove snapper , some huge porgys then played w Amberjack had them hitting poppers on the surface , caught like 6 big gag grouper, way too many huge Red Snapper. That spring is 65 miles . It was a super nice day so we could cruise at 35mph .
We were limited out early so we ranback in about 40 milestones the hogfish and caught about 25 or 30 hogs . Had 7 keepers .

This week’s fishing around Tampa Bay has been strong and trending upward as water temperatures continue to warm.

Redfish have been one of the most consistent bites. Fish are holding on shallow flats early in the morning, especially on calm, sunny days. Singles and small groups are cruising shorelines, mangrove edges, and potholes. As the sun gets higher and tides rise, reds are pushing tighter to cover and feeding aggressively. Artificial lures have been producing well, particularly soft plastics and weedless presentations in skinny water.

Spotted Seatrout are set up across grass flats and along deeper edges. Quality trout are
being caught just off the flats in slightly deeper water, with the best action coming on moving tides. Early morning and late afternoon continue to be the prime windows, and soft plastics and suspending baits are getting consistent bites.

With the warmer water temperatures, the snook bite is starting to come alive. Snook are staging along mangrove shorelines, dock edges, and creek mouths, and their activity is increasing daily. As temperatures continue to rise, expect snook to become more aggressive, particularly on outgoing tides and around areas with current.

Overall, conditions are shaping up perfectly for spring fishing in Tampa Bay. Warming water, cooperative tides, and active fish make this an excellent time to get on the water targeting redfish and trout, with snook action improving by the week.

Fishing has been on fire lately both nearshore and inshore. Nearshore trips have been producing steady action with hogfish, multiple species of grouper, porgies, gray snapper, and mackerel, while inshore fishing has been just as productive with solid grouper, mackerel, trout, redfish, and snook showing up consistently. Conditions have lined up perfectly, the bite has been strong, and it’s been a great mix of variety and quality fish across the board.

Wow! What a truly fun time. Charlie had everything ready and waiting when we arrived. He was kind, helpful, and most importantly fun. We had a blast trying to catch fish…they were stupid stubborn though. But no worries. Charlie would just move us to another spot. We will be back to Siesta Key….and we will be booking another trip w Charlie.

    Trip: Inshore Fishing Trip

First and foremost, DJ is a great guy! We booked a 6 hour trip with him to hopefully have a chance at snook and redfish. Leading up to the trip, DJ communicated very well about where to meet and was flexible with the time to meet so we had the best chance at fish. On the water he worked hard to get us on fish and was very knowledgeable and personable. The bite was a bit tough due to the recent cold snap that hit Florida, however, he still put us on the fish and gave us solid opportunities at landing trophy snook and reds. We had a blast fishing with him, very much would recommend him for your fishing adventures in the St Petersburg/Tampa area!
