Last few trips have been mostly catch and release trips. Did not take a lot of pictures. Most days we are finding a good bite using artificial lures from the boat. Some days it takes time for the bite to materialize. Recent weather patterns are indicating an early spring. Water temperature have already reached mid 70 degrees. The shad spawn has already begun. So we will be using smaller baits to get our bites for the next 30days or so. Popping cork and shrimp will also become an effective method for catching fish.

Sheepshead season in full swing! Catching these "bay snappers" mostly on live shrimp and as we get to late February into March and April these fish will be bigger and even more plentiful

The backwater is holding lots of redfish, some trout and some large sheepsheads. We’re using live shrimp fishing 4 to 6 feet deep along rocks. Spring Break is right around the corner, it’s time to get your kids outdoors!

Well to keep with the current trend, we had a strong cold front arrive, bringing strong North winds, and dipping water temperatures into the upper 40’s. By Saturday, the wind had switched back out of the East and as the day progressed, moved out of the South at 10 to 15mph. The morning air temperature started out at 41 degrees and was in the low 60’s around lunch time. The water was heavily stained in East Bay, and the wind did help keep the mosquito activity down a little less than what we have been encountering lately, but still need to spray yourself down with my recommended choice of Marshland Inspect Repellent, made here in the great state of Texas. Fished several areas, on an outgoing tide, where catching has been good of late, but found very few bites till late morning. As the day developed, the water began to heat up, bites increased, but the fish were very spread out. Most bites came on a ¼ oz jig head and plum/chartreuse tails, fished very slowly, as the fish were positioned in the deeper channels and bites were very light.
If the current trend continues, about 2 to 3 days after the front passes, the fishing normally peaks, so hit me up if you want to get on the water and do some fishing.
Until Next Time – Captain Jeff

The weather is a big factor the last few weeks, to windy, to much run off from rain. Now the tornado and high winds slow fishing down. I did go one day for redfish in the back water using live bait. Best bet is to fish the North Galveston Jetties fishing by the boat cut using live bait. This time of the year is always slow. But it is time to book for Spring Break. Use Captain Experience to book a trip of a lifetime with your kids. There is a lot of fun for kids on the Galveston Island....

Michael is definitely the trout man!! We were on fish from the moment we hit the first spot. Limited out quickly and had a blast fishing for the remainder of the day. Planning to book again in the fall. He’s a Great guide!!!
Out guide, Kevin, did an excellent job, and I would highly recommend him. There were four of us in our group including 2 experienced anglers, one semi experienced, and one who was very inexperienced. Kevin did a great job keeping everyone involved, baited, and altered approaches based on skill level. He worked very hard to put us on fish. He even cleaned our fish at the end of the trip. Again, I would higly recommend.
