Lady Bird Lake Fishing Report – Spring Update

Lady Bird Lake is at a normal level with clear water and about 4–6 feet of visibility. Water temperatures are around 68°, and bass are holding shallow, generally less than 15 feet deep. Fish are relating heavily to submerged vegetation in and
around spawning areas, with some still actively spawning and others staging nearby.

The most consistent bite has been coming on Texas-rigged stick worms worked through submerged grass. Anglers have been finding success by covering water until they locate fish, then slowing down and thoroughly fishing those areas to pick up multiple bites. While the bite has been fairly steady throughout the day, the afternoon hours have been slightly more productive overall.

Lake Austin is at a normal level with clear water and about 4–6 feet of visibility. Water temperatures are around 65°, and bass are in all phases of the spawn. Fish are holding shallow across the lake, and it’s common to run into small groups that can produce quick flurries of action before things slow down again.

The most consistent bite has been coming on finesse presentations, especially drop-shot rigged worms and Texas-rigged stick worms worked through submerged vegetation on the main lake. Anglers have been finding success by focusing on productive grass areas, where bass are staging, spawning, or guarding beds, and taking their time to thoroughly fish each stretch.

Water temperature 64°. The striper and White Bass action has really been kicking off. We’ve been finding large schools midlake between party Cove and Potters Creek Park. Umbrella rigs casted and slow rolled have been the ticket to producing limits of striper and some white bass. This action typically lasts the first hour of the day. It will sometimes go a little longer if it’s a nice overcast day. Look for seagulls hovering on the surface. It’s a good sign of the fish are right below. Largemouth bass have definitely started to spawn. Chatter baits, underspins, as well as weightless worms have been producing good numbers of fish along the edge of flooded brush mixed with hydrilla. Focus on the back of the cove and work your way out. Keep note of how far back you catch your fish as you can replicate this in most coves around the lake. You can also focus on the last bit of deeper water and last bit of structure you find before the shallows as this is a great pre-spawn staging location. Secondary points, brush piles, rock ledges, anything these fish can hold to before they move up to spawn. These are also the places they will go after they spawn.

January 2026- Lake Travis - fish are out deep on ledges and channel swings in 30 to 40 ft, fish very slowly with soft plastics like a drop shot or wacky worm, jigs with craw trailers also working well with a slow presentation, when the bass are feeding and a little bit more active we are catching them on umbrella rigs, small finesse swim baits, and crank baits with a very tight wobble like a rapala shad rap.

We hooked this Redfish by Picnic Table Point, fought it all the way to the Dam. Roughly a 15 minute battle. We weighed it at 22 pounds. It was the first 20 pound Redfish that was landed in my boat in about 6 years.

Lake Bastrop-12/4- water temp 67, lots of bass shallow right now, can catch these fish with spinnerbaits and flukes, worms also working well on outside edge of the grass, you can rig these on a drop shot or neko rig to stay weedless

Great day on the water with Ander and my friend Vance. I got to keep two of the bigger fish that I caught to eat! They tasted great with some blackening spices and butter. I'll recommend Ander to anyone looking to have a wonderful time fishing!

My buddy and I had an awesome time fishing with Kevin and Lee. This was our first time carp fishing and it didn't disappoint. These guys run a great program from setting up a nice camp (with fresh coffee) to cannonball launching multiple rods with their cornmeal balls that carp love. We had numerous bites on a quick trip and landed a giant! Kevin and Lee were first class handling the fish and got some great shots for us. – Jonathan with Captain Experiences

Kevin is a great guide and super passionate about putting you on your biggest fish. Mother nature worked against us on my trip but I was still able to learn a lot about fishing in Texas as I’m new here. Even though the bite was hard and we got snunked I would go out again with Kevin with full confidence.
