Old River (AL) Fishing Reports (July 2026)

I'm Capt Bobby Ray! I live in Orange Beach Alabama with my wife Tera and our son Wyatt Cagle. I grew up working in my fathers bait shop. Fishing is in my blood. I'm going fishing with or with out y'all so come go with me! Gonna be a good time!

The last couple weeks have been good, water is warming up super early and the fish are responding great, pompano, trout, red fish, sheepshead and black drum

Sheepshead bite is absolutely on fire right now! The pompano have shown up in good numbers too. Redfish and an occasional speckled trout have been put on ice in the past week. Spring had sprung and they are biting!

Well spring is working it's way here. The weather is warming up and the fishing is heating up with it. Inshore the sheepshead bite is still pretty hot on the jetties and bridge pilings. Drop a shrimp or a fiddler on a jig and hold on. Nearshore Bonita schools are boiling the waters already. Look for birds working and throw a gotcha plug into the water and hold on for a great fight. If targeting triggerfish and snapper, they are already schooled up on any bottom structure you can find. Drop a chicken rig with some cut squid, cigar minnow,...

The redfish are still here!

Redfish and Sheepshead are really starting to show up good. A few Pompano are also in the mix from time to time. Springtime fishing is my absolute favorite time of year to go! Never know what you'll reel in until it's in the net!

First trip of the year was a success! Had the pleasure of taking this family from Minnesota offshore this week. Found some nice Beeliners and caught and release over 40 red snapper. Weather is warming up so let’s get out on the water and have some fun.

Wintertime fishing has been very “fishy” lately!

Vermillion snapper and alamacos have been producing in close.
Grouper bite has been decent over the past 10 days

Late season redfish have been in our passes still!
