The sheepshead fishing is getting hot. The end of March and early April are my favorite times to catch the sheep's head. We have a lot of big fish that push into our river to spawn. The red fish bite is also heating up with these water temperatures getting warmer.

The offshore sea bass fishing has been really good this year when we get the good weather days, with trigger if and porgies mixed in! The inshore bite is getting better with the bigger sheepsheads moving in to spawn. With warmer weather approaching the inshore fishing is going to be great.

Warmer weather is helping our cause! Mix of fish this week, few a slot reds along with trout and ringtails for the frying pan. Some bigger reds in the mix as well! If the weather cooperates, the black sea bass have been biting as well!

Today we had to adjust plans a bit with rain in the forecast, so instead of running as far offshore as I wanted, we fished some productive, nearshore, live bottom.
The action stayed steady with plenty of black sea bass to keep rods bent, and we also put one red snapper in the boat. Water temperature was 54, still on the cooler side, but the fish were chewing.

Water temp is hovering around 64F. The sheepshead bite and black sea bass is in full swing. We also ran into some bull reds near-shore.

Redfish and speckled sea trout have been active across inshore waters. Redfish are being found along grass lines, oyster bars, and creek mouths, especially on moving water. Live shrimp, mud minnows, and gold spoons have been producing consistent bites, with slot fish making up most of the action.
Speckled sea trout are holding in slightly deeper water near drop-offs and edges, feeding best during low-light periods. Soft plastic paddle tails, shrimp imitations, and suspending plugs worked slowly have been the top producers. Cooler mornings and steady tides have made for reliable fishing overall.
