About Your Trip

Get ready for an unforgettable fishing experience with Captain Roland, where local knowledge, family-friendly fun, and serious angling come together on the stunning waters around Jacksonville, Florida. Whether you're casting in the river, exploring the marshes, or chasing big bites along the coast, Captain Roland brings a lifetime of experience and passion to every trip.

Having grown up fishing the St. Johns River and working aboard commercial and head boats since the age of 20,
Captain Roland knows these waters inside and out. Today, he runs trips aboard a smooth-riding 24’ Sea Chaser powered by a 2023 Mercury Pro XS—a comfortable, well-equipped vessel that’s ideal for anglers of all ages. With features like a GPS, fishfinder, Minn Kota trolling motor, live bait well, and an ice box to keep your catch fresh, the boat is dialed in for both casual and serious anglers.

Captain Roland’s trips are designed to fit your schedule and fishing goals. The 4-hour trip is perfect for kids or anyone looking for a quick escape on the water. Whether you’re after Redfish, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, or even a feisty Jack Crevalle or jumping Tarpon and kingfish this trip gives you a great taste of what Jacksonville fishing is all about.

The 6-hour trip opens up more time to chase a wider range of species—think Cobia, amberjacks, King Mackerel, sheepsheads, flounder—and is perfect for those looking to fill the cooler. You can even break up the action with a stop for lunch at a private sandbar. Captain Roland knows the best spots to beach the boat and unwind before heading back to the fish.

For the angler ready to go all-in, the 8-hour trip offers the full experience. Spend the day hunting Tarpon along the beach, pulling Kingfish from deeper waters, and chasing schools of snapper, Black Drum, or redfish. And if you’re up for it, take a mid-day break to soak in the sun with lunch on a quiet stretch of sand—you just have to ask.

Throughout the trip, Captain Roland shares his knowledge freely and loves helping guests learn new techniques. Kids are always welcome aboard, making this a fantastic outing for families looking to bond over rod-bending action and beautiful views.

All trips include everything you need to fish: top-quality rods, reels, tackle, bait, lures, fishing licenses, and even fish cleaning. Bottled water is provided, and you’re encouraged to bring along your favorite snacks and drinks to keep the good vibes going.

Whether you're a first-time fisher or a seasoned saltwater pro, a day on the water with Captain Roland is equal parts adventure, education, and pure Florida fun. Come ready to relax, reel in something big, and make memories that’ll last long after the last cast.

How did you get started guiding?
It’s been my dream since a kid. I dropped out of college and make the jump into fishing for a living at 20 and started working for charter and commercial boats until I was 25 and became a captain and now I’m running my own business!
What makes you different from other guides?
I’m all about having a good time and super laid back but serious about catching fish. I play good music and we always limit out on fun!
