Fishing the offshore waters of North East Florida can be world class. Lots of options depending on the time of year and water temps. We usually break it down into two categories trolling and bottom fishing. Trolling we prefer using live bait and 30 lb. conventional tackle. Targeting king mackerel, cobia, bonita, barracuda, sailfish, mahi and sometimes even blackfin tuna. This all depends on conditions and the time of year we fish. Usually we start the day by throwing a cast net for live bait or stopping on a piece of structure to jig up some minnows using a sabibki rig. Once the baitwells are loaded its off to the fishing grounds. All depending on where the bite has been best is where we start to fish. Sometimes it can be a few miles out and other days we need to run 10-12 miles offshore. Bottom fishing can be wide open off of our coast as well targeting red snapper, vermillion snapper, black seabass, amberjack, grey grouper, cobia and triggerfish just to name a handful. The live bait can work very well on the bottom as well fresh cut bait and frozen bait. Until you have felt the fight of a mule snapper or a big amberjack it's hard to express in words how hard they pull. We use heavy conventional tackle (80lb.) as well as big spinning rods for the fishing these waters. Read More

These fish are some of the best fighting fish anglers have come across with using light tackle. Central Florida offers a wide selection of two different tarpon fishing charters in the area and this is the closest tarpon fishing near Orlando you will find. We target big tarpon here throughout the warmer months in the spring through the fall along the beaches, just outside the inlets. The backcountry tarpon fishing is done on the Mosquito Lagoon Indian River year round on the flats in New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet, Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. Typically April through November, with May, June, July, August, September and October being prime time for big beach, nearshore and backcountry tarpon. However the smaller tarpon can be found throughout the area year round in the far backcountry waters of the Indian River, Banana River, Sebastian Inlet and the Mosquito Lagoon. These fish range around 5 to 20 pounds, which are perfect for light tackle applications of both spin and fly. Along the beaches on the nearshore fishing trips is where you will find the 100 plus pound tarpon. These begin showing up in April and is in full force all summer long.
