Inks Lake Fishing Report – Late Winter / Pre-Spawn Update
Inks Lake is currently at a normal level with stained water and about 2–4 feet of visibility. Water temperatures are sitting around 56°, and bass are starting to transition toward early pre-spawn patterns after the recent freeze. The main spawning activity is likely still a few weeks away, but fish are beginning to move and group up.

The most consistent action has been coming from crankbaits worked around rocky areas and shaky head rigged finesse worms fished around docks, primarily in 5–12 feet of water. Bass are often holding in small groups, so anglers may experience slower stretches between bites, but it’s common to catch multiple fish once an active area is located. Slowing down and thoroughly fishing productive structure has been key to putting together solid days on the water.
Inks Lake is currently at a normal level with stained water and about 3–4 feet of visibility. Water temperatures have dropped into the low 50s, and bass are beginning to group up as winter conditions continue to settle in. Overall, cloudy days have been producing slightly better action than bright, sunny conditions.

With a strong cold front moving in, anglers can expect the lake to transition even more firmly into classic winter fishing patterns in the coming days.

We had an excellent trip with Jake. He’s very knowledgeable and patient. Two of our three are brand new to fishing and he was incredibly helpful and made it fun. He was able to help the group catch a ton of fish, including personal bests for the more experienced angler in our group. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Thanks Jake!
The boys had a fantastic time fishing with Evan! He was very knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. His boat and equipment were top notch too. Thanks for a great trip!
He is a great guide and a nice boat bought out limit in less than one hr an back to dock to clean fish. The 41 steps both ways was hard on my wife I go up better than go down knee problems. Had a great boat ride an my wife got the big fish
Another awesome trip with Jake. This time, we headed out with Tierra from FOX 7 Austin for her Tierra's Texas Series. We caught em up, check it out here! https://www.fox7austin.com/video/1544986. Thanks Jake, good times as always. – Jonathan with Captain Experiences
Took my buddy and Tanzania-based guide Dom out with Jake and we had a blast! Jake put us on a number of nice fish. Highlight of the trip was Jake marking a fish with his live scope and Dom and I watching on the livescope as it chased Dom's swimbait and gulped it up! – Jonathan with Captain Experiences
Had some family in town for Easter and the spring bite did not disappoint. Jake had plenty of rods rigged up and got us dialed as soon as we figured out what they were hitting. Some nice fish, can't wait to get back out there! – Jonathan with Captain Experiences
