The inshore as well as the offshore fishing has picked up dramatically in the last two and three weeks... The fluke, Seabass, and bluefish have been hitting well in the usual locations in the bay and just on the reef outside. The offshore has also taken a dramatic uptick. Last week we had a 77 pound wahoo along with bluefin tuna. The canyons have opened up with yellow fin, blue marlin, and white Marlin... Not to mention great mahi mahi fishing

Late July saw an increase in the Mahi fishing with larger fish in better numbers. In typical cycles the fishing got harder on the full moon but should recover as the moon subsides. The tunas have arrived but so have the sharks that follow the tuna schools. If you ever wanted to catch a larger shark Thor next moths are the best! On the reef the snappers are still chewing as the spawns come to a close.

Fishing report from Jake D. in Pensacola, Florida Book a trip with Captain Jake here.

The red snapper bite has been steady but you have to put up some effort to find the sizes you need for the box. Trigger fish has opened and are plentiful but lots of smalls mixed in which is normal but not so bad. The mahi's are crazy good at the moment and anything you find floating in the water is full of fish including triple tails. The vermilion snapper have come off their full moon spawn and are really biting well , squid or salted northern mackerel will do the trick. Kings are good this year and still going . Amber jacks are closed so you know will catch them one after the other. There is no blue water very close here in our neck of the woods so the trolling is kind of slow. Inshore is never great in August because of the heat but Captain Jake is catching some redfish and trout along with flounder and mangrove snapper. The Spanish mackerel are still good as long as the bait is here.

Looks like the unseasonal wind is finally subsiding. Mutton snapper has been the highlight bottom fishing. King fish bonitos and mahi are around. I've been finding some Goliath grouper and large snook for the Instagram bros. Mullet run is right around the corner. Then the tarpon, snook, Jack, and blacktip sharks will be abundant. When this happens we always seem to find mahi offshore.
