Fishing live bait in Biscayne bay for tarpon, yellow jacks, mangrove, mutton snappers and groupers has been great, with a good chance to take plenty of fish home to eat. The easy availability of live bait is what makes these trips successful. That will change as soon as we start getting cold fronts that cool the water off, and push the bait fish to deeper water. During nice weather days, bonefishing in Biscayne bay can be awesome with lots of shots, and the biggest fish of the year, from now through spring. Flyfishing and light tackle in the Everglades for snook, tarpon, sea trout and redfish has been very good, and will continue fishing well, depending on the fluctuations of weather and cold fronts activity.

30a offshore. We have wrapped up the October fall snapper dates. We continue to find quality fish despite the high winds and big seas. Everything from big red snapper, scamp grouper, big trash can lid triggerfish, bull vermillion, even rainbow runners. The cold front that has came through has sparked off the kings also. Still waiting for the big run of the fall blackfin tuna. 30a inshore. We are seeing the bull redfish still pretty consistently. Some days are better than others but they're still around. We are catching slots around docks and some of the drop offs. Flats in the morning for them and later in the evening. Still catching a few trout also. Hopefully in the next few weeks the sheepshead bite will pick up for us here in the Choctawhatchee.

The bite has still been good in October. We have the weekends open for red snapper but it has been hard to catch some of the bigger ones closer to shore. We have been catching other species though. Wahoo and blackfin tuna are supposed to venture in closer to shore this time of year. A few wahoo have been caught by some of my friends just 5-15 miles from the shore. The Destin rodeo is going on through October and many fish have been caught including a giant 300 lb Warsaw grouper! Large schools of bull redfish are starting to gather in the back bay areas. We came up on a school of bull reds crashing the top water and hooked into a 20 pound redfish the other day.

October is a beautiful time to be out on the water here in the panhandle. The inshore bite is definitely awesome this time a year. You can pick off a lot of variety by pounding the banks with live shrimp, plastics, and twitch baits. Deep dropping or trolling offshore is still going strong. Just pick the right day to get out there as these northern winds start blowing pretty steady.

Red snapper open on weekends for October. When it's calm enough, we have been doing very well with some big snapper and even a grouper now and then. Smaller Mahi mahi still around. Occasionally a nice big for inshore 5-10 lb er. A few king mackerel showing up, but not thick yet. Bay fishing- Mangrove snapper bonanza! Fair amount of Spanish mackerel on fly lined baits. Big oversized red fish on the right winds. Has been good lately with North winds and Cooler temps.

Tuna just now showing up, but it's still hard to predict, same as sails and dorado, we focus on the amberjack, and other target species that are still in season, such as swordfish, and Mangrove, vermillion snapper, always hope for the fish of a lifetime! Looking to book for some overnight trips for yellowfin and marlin 100+ miles offshore.
