Fishing report from Alex Z. in Homestead, Florida

Fishing live bait in Biscayne bay for tarpon, yellow jacks, mangrove, mutton snappers and groupers has been great, with a good chance to take plenty of fish home to eat. The easy availability of live bait is what makes these trips successful. That will change as soon as we start getting cold fronts that cool the water off, and push the bait fish to deeper water. During nice weather days, bonefishing in Biscayne bay can be awesome with lots of shots, and the biggest fish of the year, from now through spring. Flyfishing and light tackle in the Everglades for snook, tarpon, sea trout and redfish has been very good, and will continue fishing well, depending on the fluctuations of weather and cold fronts activity.

The last couple of weeks have been very good in the Florida Keys, between Key Largo & Marathon. The predominant bite offshore has been swordfish & blackfin tunas. The swordfish have been holding well off the ledges & the blackfins are super thick on the humps. We are catching our limits on blackfin tuna just about every trip & a few mahi-mahi in the mix as an extra treat.

People often have the misconception that it's to hot to be in the Florida Keys is the Summer time which is completely false. As central and northern Florida has daily average temperatures reaching 100 plus degrees the summer time average in the Keys is right around 85 with light breezes and perfect sight fishing conditions for Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Sharks and so many more. From mid August to mid October is the quite season here in South Florida so come enjoy some fishing and resorts all to your selfs.

Looks like the unseasonal wind is finally subsiding. Mutton snapper has been the highlight bottom fishing. King fish bonitos and mahi are around. I've been finding some Goliath grouper and large snook for the Instagram bros. Mullet run is right around the corner. Then the tarpon ,snook,Jack, and blacktip sharks will be abundant. When this happens we always seem to find mahi offshore.

The tarpon have been starting to be a little harder to find but we've still been getting on them. Yellowjacks and snappers have been on the menu for lunch!
