About Your Trip
Explore the Lower Laguna Madre with Captain Larry for a classic South Texas fishing experience that’s all about fun, fish, and making memories. Born and raised on these waters, Captain Larry brings local expertise and a passion for helping guests enjoy everything this unique fishery has to offer—from shallow flats to nearshore structure.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 22’ Shallow Sport, powered by a 175 HP Yamaha and built for navigating skinny water with ease.
With room for up to 5 guests, this boat is great for families, small groups, or anyone looking to experience the scenic beauty and fishing opportunities of the Lower Laguna Madre. It comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, a live bait well, and an ice box, keeping your day smooth and comfortable.
Half-day trips are available in both the morning and afternoon, with 3–4 hour options that make for a perfect introduction to the area. These trips are laid-back, flexible, and suitable for all skill levels. Whether you're casting light tackle on the flats or drifting for something big nearshore, Captain Larry will help you target popular species like Redfish, Speckled Trout, Snook, Flounder, Mangrove Snapper, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and even Kingfish when the conditions line up.
Depending on the season and your preferences, you’ll try out different fishing techniques including light tackle, jigging, popping, trolling, and drifting.Want to fly fish or bring your own specialty gear? Captain Larry can help you make it happen.
All trips include rods, reels, tackle, lures, and water with ice. Live bait is optional and available when it's most effective—just let the captain know what you'd like to use, and he’ll advise on what’s best for the season. Fish cleaning is available for an additional fee, either by the captain or a dockside fish cleaner.
Just bring your Texas fishing license with a saltwater stamp, any snacks or drinks you’d like for the trip, sun protection, and your favorite fishing hat. Kids are welcome, and beginners are encouraged—Captain Larry loves sharing this fishery with anyone ready to learn.
Whether you're chasing your first Redfish or hoping to check Snook off your list, this is a great way to explore one of Texas’s most productive and scenic fisheries with a local captain who’s all about keeping it fun, relaxed, and fishy.
