Go aboard with Captain Rafael—Rafa for short—on an inshore adventure chasing Puerto Rican Tarpon! The waters of Carolina, PR are some of the most productive fishing grounds in the world, and this trip is sure to get you on the fish. Besides Tarpon, you will have the chance to catch Jack Crevalle and Snook, both excellent and hard-fighting gamefish. Catching these trophies with Captain Rafa will be a memory you never forget. You'll be fishing from the deck of his 22' Pathfinder center console. This boat is ideal for inshore fishing, and has everything you need for a comfortable and successful day out on the water. She sports a 150-HP Yamaha engine, so you'll be at the hot spots in no time at all. When you get back to the dock, Captain Rafa will clean and fillet your catch so you can cook a delicious meal. He will also provide all the equipment you need, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. You should bring appropriate clothing and sun protection. Sunblock, polarized sunglasses, and a brimmed (and stylish) hat are all good options to avoid a nasty sunburn. This trip is an incredible opportunity, so come down to Puerto Rico and whack some fish! Rafa is the man. He was on time, prepared, informative and knew how to attack tarpon. It was a slow day for the catching side of things but Rafa managed to get us on fish. My wife and I both landed a couple 4 to 5 lb fish and we hooked a bigger fish (12 to 15lb) that gave us a jumping show but came unhooked at the boat. We got to meet Bob the pelican as an added treat. A great day and I can confidently refer Rafa as a good man to fish with …
Had a great day on the water with Captain Rafael! We had 4 on the line and landed 3. Captain Rafael was a good teacher and worked hard to get us into fish. I definitely recommend him if you want to go tarpon fishing!
Becki and i enjoyed our tarpon trip in the mangroves with Captain Rafael. She caught the biggest fish of her life and will have a sweet memory to take back to Nashville. Captain was gracious and met all of our needs.
Captain Raf was great! He knew right where to take us and made sure we had a great time. It was an experience we will never forget. Thank you Captain.
The most fun I have ever had fishing! I can’t wait to bring my family back. Captain Vega made this an amazing bucket list item that Ican check off of my list. ¡Muchas gracias por todo!
Rafa is the goat
I asked my husband where wanted to go for honeymoon and he said anywhere I want as long as we get to go fishing. Booked fishing trip and was best fishing trip I’ve ever been on. Rafael was amazing, great conversation, taught me that fishing for tarpon is much different than any other fishing. I try to follow recommendations as much as possible. We lost a couple in the beginning but I had the amazing experience of catching huge tarpon. It was a work out and he put up a good fight. So grateful for this fishing trip. My husband had a blast and had to help me hold up fish for picture cause he was huge. My husband had the time of his life and also caught some big ones!! We would highly recommend Rafael!!! …
Captain Rafael is definitely one of the best Captain in catching tarpons, he helped us caught a few good tarpons, and also taught us a lot of knowledge of the tarpons and the backwater. It was our pleasure to fish with Captain Rafael. One thing to mention, tarpons are extremely hard to catch species, people with no fishing experiences are likely to lose a lot of fish, landing one or two is very good already. So this is why I am really tired of reading stupid reviews wrote by stupid people who had never done any research about tarpon fishing. And I really feel sorry for the Captain since I know how desperate it is to fish with stupid people. …
Great communication with Captain Rafa after we had made the booking. We had originally booked a 2p trip but Captain Rafa called that morning and suggested we leave earlier for better fishing - great call! Bait all ready and we were fishing in a few minutes. My friend had planned to watch but after 1st fish he joined in. Captain Rafa was working the whole time - baiting, a lot of chum, answering questions and very patient with two novices. We broke a rod tip but no big deal to Rafa. Eight tarpon in total - great experience and one of the highlights of our trips to PR. Captain Rafa was great - highly recommended! …
Myself and five friends went out with Captain Rafael, due to heavy rains in recent weeks fishing was slow, but captain Rafael was adept at getting bait, and finding where the fish were. We were all new to tarpon fishing and the captain told us everything we needed, to land fish. Several of our group got sick half way through the trip, so I was the only person to continue the second half of the trip, and captain Rafael helped me land two species on my bucket list, and a wild fish story for the ages. I highly recommend this charter!!! …
Great captain. Great experience. You can tell that he has a true passion for fishing and a vast amount of knowledge. Compared to other private charters I have done before were they park the boat and sit in the same spot all day even if there is no fish. Rafael was dead set on finding fish and moved to different spots throughout the day to assure that we were able to have a chance at fighting some tarpon. I will definitely be using his services again in the future for tarpon and hopefully other species …
