I’ve lived in South Florida most of my life and there’s nowhere I feel more comfortable than around the mangroves and grass flats that comprise my office. I’m a skiff guide and would rather throw fly than anything else. I’ve been teaching the sport of fly and light tackle angling since 2002. I’m old fashioned and still believe fishing should be fun. Teaching is my passion and beginning salt water fly fishers are welcome. Learning to cast is a lot of fun and I can help build your confidence.

All in all, the trip belongs to my guests. A day on the water can vary greatly depending on weather, tides and the angler’s abilities. Each day I look over every variable to ensure you are given the best opportunity to catch fish. The most rewarding part of a day on the water for me is knowing my customers have enjoyed the experience.

For sure, fly fishing is one of the fastest growing segments of our sport. In fact, the bow of a skiff is a great spot to work a
line. With plenty of room for a backcast combined with the casting platform’s elevated positioning, the teamwork that can be established between the poling platform and the bow makes for an enjoyable experience.

About Your Trip

Gamefish are typically most active in the morning and of course on the best tides. In other words, they like it when the most water is moving during the shortest time period. This is always about 3 days before and after the full and new moon tides. I like to start around 7 a.m. as it's a great time of day. The two ramps I like, particularly Pineland Marine on Pine Island, drop us very close to where I like to fish providing a short boat ride and more time to fish.

I run a skiff and can accommodate one or two anglers. I always have a cooler on board full of ice and plenty of water. You're more than welcome to bring anything you'd like to eat or drink. There's plenty of room in the cooler. The experience, sights and sounds, of our backcountry habitat is incredible. Every day is unique and you never what you'll see. It's your day and all in all the trip belongs to you. I don't book two trips on any given day as a day on the water can vary greatly depending on weather, tides and the angler’s abilities.

Each day I look over every variable to ensure you are given the best opportunity to catch fish. The most rewarding part of a day on the water for me is knowing my customers have enjoyed the experience. In many ways teaching is my passion and I'm a very patient guide. I've been doing this a long time and I've come to appreciate just how special it is to be out here. Saltwater fly fishing is a great sport and my preferred method but I always have a couple spinning rods on board if needed. In fact, many of my clients bring a guest who has never fly fished and wants to throw soft plastics. Here, if you work together both anglers can fish at the same time. Typically, We'll target spotted seatrout, redfish, and snook. Moreover, you never know when we could run into some jacks, pompano, cobia, small sharks, bluefish, or mackerel. You just never know as every day is different.
