About Your Trip

If you're ready to fish the legendary waters around Chincoteague Island, hop aboard with Captain Billy and get set for an unforgettable day on the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or brand new to fishing, Captain Billy makes it easy to dive into the action with trips tailored to your schedule and experience.

You’ll be fishing from a 24’ Carolina Skiff—a dependable and comfortable ride outfitted with twin power, GPS, fishfinder, a live bait
well, and an ice box to keep your catch fresh. With space for up to 4 anglers, it’s ideal for families, small groups, or anyone looking for a laid-back, hands-on fishing experience. Morning trips depart at 7:00 AM year-round, and afternoon start times vary by season to match daylight hours:

April 1 – August 31:

• 4-hour trip – 4:00 PM
• 6-hour trip – 2:00 PM
• 8-hour trip – 12:00 PM

September 1 – 30:

• 4-hour trip – 3:00 PM
• 6-hour trip – 1:00 PM
• 8-hour trip – 11:00 AM

October 1 – 31:

• 4-hour trip – 2:00 PM
• 6-hour trip – 12:00 PM
• 8-hour trip – 10:00 AM

These inshore and nearshore waters are packed with opportunity. Depending on the season, you could hook into Redfish, Flounder, Spotted Seatrout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Striped Bass, Black Seabass, Gray Triggerfish, or even Cobia. A wide range of techniques are used—from light tackle and spinning to jigging, popping, and bottom fishing—and Captain Billy will tailor the approach to what’s biting and what you’re targeting.

Families and kids are welcome, but children must wear life vests—so check with the captain in advance to make sure the right sizes are available. All gear is included: rods, reels, lures, bait (typically caught before the trip), and your fishing license. Plus, complimentary fish cleaning and filleting is provided for any gamefish you choose to keep—just bring a cooler with ice to take your catch home.

To stay comfortable throughout your trip, be sure to bring sunscreen (non-spray), sunglasses, a hat, and a rain jacket in case the weather changes. Early morning or fall trips can get chilly, so it’s smart to pack a sweatshirt or light jacket. Snacks or a packed lunch are great to bring along—bottled water is provided, and you’re welcome to bring additional drinks (just avoid glass and hard liquor).

Whether you’re chasing redfish through the marshes or reeling in seabass over a nearshore wreck, Captain Billy is here to deliver an authentic, hands-on Chincoteague fishing adventure you won’t forget!
