About Your Trip

The water gets very deep just a short boat ride off the island. This means that trophy gamefish species like yellowfin tuna, blue marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi can be caught without having to take a long ride out to the prime fishing waters.

This trip includes fishing licenses, tackle & bait, fish cleaning and packaging, coolers full of ice, and even complimentary photos and video of the trip! All the gear on board is IGFA qualified, so if you catch a trophy, you may be in the running for a record. All reels are made by Shimano, and the rods and tackles are of the highest quality. Whether you're just looking to catch your next meal, or chasing after the trophy of a lifetime, this is the trip for you!

I have fished all over the world and would rank Captain Shawn and crew among the very best guides I have fished with. Captain Shawn’s commercial fishing background and fishing network give him a solid edge. He knows what he is doing and has all of the right equipment to get it done. Better still, Shawn is great company. Interesting and personable, Shawn made our day on the water a wonderful experience. I look forward to fishing with him again. Book a full day for the best experience. Bring a camera for the whales and lots of sunscreen.

Our first trip to the Big Island to hopefully fulfill a life long dream of catching a Blue Marlin. Fortunately we booked Kona Cowboy with Captain Shawn, Kimberly & Hannah. My dream was catching one Marlin, I caught 5!!! The largest weighing 400lbs!!! It was the best time I’ve ever had fishing & I owe it all to Capt. Shawn & his crew. I truly believe he may be the hardest working captain to hook you up with a Marlin also.

Been on 10 different boats over last 30 years. Never had a captain try so hard to get us on the fish. Clean boat professional all around. Kona cowboy won’t disappoint.
