Float your way down the river with Doug and get ready for an action-packed day of fishing in Leicester! On this fly-fishing trip you'll be targeting Brook Trout, Brown Trout, and Rainbow Trout.

This float trip is Doug's most popular guide trip option. Anglers will get to cover miles of river that are often inaccessible to the wading public, and will have the opportunity to float a wider variety of rivers and flow conditions to keep you on the water during peak fishing periods.

Whether you're new to fly fishing or not, Doug is eager to help. He has been fly fishing rivers his whole life so don’t be surprised when he puts you on a fish! He’ll help you reel ‘em all in throughout your 4-hour (half-day) or 8-hour (full day) adventure through North Carolina's beautiful rivers.

Doug gears his trips toward education, conservation, river awareness, and of course leaving you with an unforgettable outdoor experience in the beautiful North Carolina mountains that he calls home.

Doug will outfit you with all equipment needed (Flys, Rods, Boots, Waders). He will also provide snacks and cold beverages. Enjoy your day out on the river with Doug!

Captain Doug offers unparalleled guided Asheville fly fishing trips across the many fertile waters in Western North Carolina.

Captain Doug has remained an avid fisherman and outdoorsman his entire life. He was introduced to fishing at just 16 months old when his father introduced him to brim fishing in Alabama.

Since then, he has spent countless days on the water to improve his understanding of fish behavior and to conserve the bountiful fisheries and ecosystems Western North Carolina provides.

Catching the fly fishing bug in his early days, Captain Doug ventured west to Montana and Colorado before making Western Carolina his home outside of Asheville. His greatest joy is sharing his fly fishing knowledge and conservation strategies with beginner and expert anglers alike.

Whether fishing quiet mountain streams or a whitewater rivers, Captain Doug provides knowledge and insights from his experiences that will help anglers on their trip and beyond!

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

Captain Experiences is the home of over 1500 Damn Good fishing and hunting guides. Our mission is to unlock the outdoors for everyone, and we want to help you get out there through our no-hassle online booking experience and our team of outdoors experts.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.

Once you book the trip, we will connect you directly with the guide to go over any additional details. In the meantime, our team is always available to answer your questions via email, text, chat, or call!
