We are not from the Lake Travis area but we are from Texas. My family visited Lake Travis recently just for a weekend getaway. Decided to drag the Kayaks along to try to do some lake fishing while we were there. Although we had never been to lake Travis we had heard the water was clear but we had not heard how deep the lake was. Long story short we were unprepared to fish the lake. Quickly realizing that I decided at the last minute to try and find a guide so that the experience would not be a total loss. Expecting it to be a bit of a struggle with short notice we were not surprised to find that all the guides were either booked or needed more notice. One of the guides I had contacted was Kleighton Westphall with Bushwhacker Bait Co. He promptly replied to my text with an apology and let me know that he needed more of a notice. Understanding the situation I quickly moved on not expecting to ever talk to Kleighton again. A couple of hours later I get a text message from Kleighton inquiring about how I found him. Our conversation quickly turned into him giving me advise on how to fish the lake. What kind of lures to use and which ones to avoid. What areas would be hot spots and what depth to fish at. All the information I needed to make the most out of our trip. Although we had trouble figuring it out the information from Kleighton certainly gave us a good head start in the right direction. I have never met Kleighton personally but I know he is very dedicated to the sport and is more interested in teaching than just booking another guide. He had no obligation to tell me anything about how to fish the lake but he did it anyway without any monetary gain. We will certainly visit Lake Travis again and I will definitely be being booking a trip (with advanced notice) to fish the lake with him. We are grateful for his selflessness in making sure me and my son made the most out of our trip. Thank you Bushwhacker Bait Co and thank you Kleighton Westphall. We will see you soon. P.S. I had to rate the Equipment and Boat to post this review. I gave 5 stars assuming that his equipment is as exceptional as his service.

Kleighton showed me tactics on how to target pressured fish on a big tournament lake. Sometimes I just need 5 bites and with his techniques I have personally used his approaches to improve myself as well
