Step aboard with Captain Von for a fun-filled half-day exploring the inshore waters around Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Topsail Island. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or casting a line for the very first time, Captain Von knows exactly where the fish are biting and how to put you on them. With years of experience fishing along the Cape Fear Coast, he’ll tailor the trip to the style of fishing you enjoy most—trolling, casting, bottom fishing, jigging, or live bait fishing—so you get the experience you’re looking for.

Your ride for the day is the Intruder 21, a custom-built Dream Boats design that holds four world records. With its ultra-shallow draft (7–8 inches) and ability to run in less than 4 inches of water, it can reach skinny backwater creeks and hidden marsh channels that bigger boats can’t touch—all while delivering one of the smoothest, driest rides you’ll ever experience. Equipped with a powerful Minn Kota 112 trolling motor and anchor lock, you’ll be able to quietly hold position right over the bite.

On this inshore trip, you’ll explore the Intracoastal Waterway, salt marshes, and tidal creeks in search of Red Drum, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, and more, depending on the season. With Captain Von’s local knowledge, every stop is a hand-picked hot spot with the potential for bent rods and big smiles.

Everything you need for a successful trip is included—rods, reels, bait, tackle, fishing license, life preservers, safety gear, and even ice and packing for your catch. All you need to bring is a light jacket, sunscreen (no spray), sunglasses, snacks, and your favorite drinks.

With space for up to 4 anglers, this trip is perfect for families, friends, or anyone looking to enjoy a few hours on the water and bring home fresh fish. Captain Von’s goal is simple: to make your day memorable, enjoyable, and full of action from the first cast to the last.

How did you get started guiding?
I took one soldier fishing many years ago and believe it or not, the phone started ringing on a regular basis from other Veterans. I guess my decision was made for me to acquire my Captain’s License and try to pay some bills in the process.
What makes you different from other guides?
I’m friendly and do my best to make sure our clients have a fantastic experience on the water… Hmmm… I guess you could say, I’m better looking than other Captains, but that would definitely be lying.

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.
You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
