About Your Trip

Get ready for a high-energy day of fishing just off the coast of Virginia with Captain Doug! Launching out of Saluda and serving the Northern Neck region—including Lancaster, Middlesex, and Gloucester Counties—Captain Doug offers a top-tier nearshore experience that’s all about bending rods and making memories. For extra convenience, he can even pick you up right from Grey’s Point or Beth Page Campgrounds—just say the word!

Running seasonally from July 10 through September 15, this
3/4-day Cobia and Spanish Mackerel trip is limited to just 3 anglers, ensuring a personalized and action-packed experience. You’ll be fishing the productive nearshore waters of the Atlantic Ocean, where Cobia cruise the surface and Mackerel slash through bait balls with speed and power. These fish are aggressive, hard-fighting, and delicious—everything you want in a summer target.

Your ride for the day is a 26’ Pathfinder bay boat powered by a 300 HP Yamaha, built for speed and stability in nearshore waters. With a flybridge for spotting Cobia, outriggers for wide trolling spreads, a fighting chair, and a wireless trolling motor for quiet maneuvering, this boat is dialed in for serious fishing. Onboard tech like GPS, fishfinder, radar, and VHF radio keeps you safe and locked onto the bite, while an ice box ensures your catch stays fresh.

When it comes to technique, you’ll have plenty of options. Troll for fast-moving Spanish Mackerel, sight-cast or pop for cruising Cobia, or switch things up with jigging, spinning, or bottom fishing. Light and heavy tackle setups are both available, and Captain Doug will tailor the day to your preferences and experience level. Kids are more than welcome aboard, and with just three anglers max, there's plenty of room to relax and focus on the fish.

Captain Doug provides everything you need for a successful day: rods, reels, tackle, live bait, fishing licenses, and even catch cleaning and filleting. His first mate will also be on board to assist throughout the trip, making sure you’re always ready for the next bite.

With over 35 years of fishing experience and a Coast Guard captain’s license since 2015, Captain Doug brings both skill and a laid-back attitude that makes every trip enjoyable. He knows how to find fish—and how to make sure everyone has a great time catching them.

So if you're looking for a fun, focused trip targeting some of the most exciting species the Atlantic has to offer, hop aboard with Captain Doug.
