About Your Trip

Ten miles off Bradenton puts you on some of the most productive nearshore structure in the Gulf of Mexico, and Captain Jim has spent decades mapping it. Hundreds of wrecks, reefs, and drop-offs are in the playbook, and the crew picks the best spots based on the time of year and what species are actively holding on a given day. If one spot is slow, they move to the next one without hesitation, keeping you fishing productive water throughout the trip.

The species list here is one of the more diverse on this stretch of Gulf Coast. Gag grouper, red grouper, hogfish, mangrove snapper, lane snapper, kingfish, cobia, Spanish mackerel, flounder, black sea bass, grunt, and bonnethead shark are all part of the fishery depending on season and structure. Bottom fishing and live bait are the primary methods, with heavy tackle, light tackle, and topwater rounding out the approach when conditions call for it.

Captain Jim runs a 36-foot center console that comfortably handles up to six anglers, with the range and stability to work multiple spots throughout a four to six hour trip without feeling rushed. The boat is rigged and ready, and the crew brings the local knowledge and preparation that comes from years of consistent effort on these same grounds.

The combination of a well-charted fishery, a captain willing to move until fish are found, and a target species list this long makes for an outing with genuine variety and real opportunity on every trip.

Book a trip with Captain Jim out of Bradenton and put your lines down on some of the Gulf's most reliable nearshore structure.

I've been fishing local Waters here on the Gulf Coast for over 40 years. And as a lifelong Floridian, and seasoned angler, I was born and raised in Pensacola, growing up in a naval family, and I have spent countless hours exploring the local waters and honing my fishing skills. My father, also an avid angler, passed down a love for the sport.
