Get ready to make some core memories fishing the legendary Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River with Captain Shawn—one of the most experienced and respected guides in the region! Whether you're hoping to land your first Striper or you're a seasoned angler looking to explore these iconic waters, this trip offers the perfect blend of fun, learning, and local expertise.

You’ll be stepping aboard a spacious 46’ Markley pilothouse boat that’s custom-built for comfort, safety, and serious fishing. With room for up to 17 anglers, this boat is ideal for everything from solo trips to big group outings. The vessel is fully equipped with GPS, radar, a Fishfinder, outriggers, a live bait well, and an ice box to keep your catch fresh. It’s also wheelchair accessible and features a clean onboard toilet to make longer trips more comfortable.

Over the course of your trip, you’ll have the chance to use a variety of techniques to target a mix of species. Light tackle fishing is popular for chasing Striped Bass (Rockfish) and Bluefish, while bottom fishing is a great way to connect with Norfolk Spot, White Perch, Croaker, and even Black Drum. In the fall, the Rockfish bite really heats up, and jigging for a trophy Bass is a favorite among returning anglers. During the summer Rockfish closure, you'll shift focus to Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and other seasonal targets.

Morning and afternoon 6-hour trips are available. Head out early to take advantage of cooler temps and the morning bite, or enjoy a laid-back afternoon on the water with friends and family. These trips aren’t just about filling the cooler—they’re about soaking up the scenery, learning something new, and sharing moments you’ll remember long after the rods are racked.

Captain Shawn provides all the gear you’ll need, including rods, reels, tackle, lures, and licenses. A helpful first mate is onboard to assist throughout the day—tipping 15–20% is customary and always appreciated. At the end of your trip, your catch will be cleaned and filleted so it’s ready to hit the grill or head home with you.

All you need to bring are your favorite snacks, drinks, and a cooler for your cleaned catch. Whether it’s your first time on a boat or your hundredth time fishing the Chesapeake, this trip is a chance to connect with the water, learn from one of the best, and create lasting memories with your crew. Specializing in Striped Bass, Black Drum, and Bluefish, the team brings a deep passion and knowledge of the Bay's diverse fishery to every trip. Captain Shawn especially enjoys welcoming big groups aboard, showing off Maryland’s scenic coastline, and most importantly, putting you on the bite.

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Shawn will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
