About Your Trip

This spring, climb aboard with Captain Thomas for a 6-hour inshore catfishing adventure on the Chesapeake Bay and get ready to tangle with one of the Bay’s biggest—and most underrated—battlers: the Blue Catfish! These fish can grow up to 40 pounds, and with their powerful runs and rod-bending strength, they offer an unforgettable experience for anglers of all ages and skill levels.

Running both AM and PM 6-hour trips, this charter departs from a private
dock in Shady Side, Maryland, offering a hands-on, family-friendly outing guided by one of the region’s most experienced captains. Captain Thomas is a fifth-generation local fisherman who knows these waters inside and out—and when it comes to finding springtime Blue Cats, he’s got it dialed in.

You’ll fish aboard a 42’ Provincial powered by a 450 HP diesel engine, with plenty of deck space for up to six passengers. The boat is outfitted with premium gear from Shimano, Okuma, and Penn, along with a live bait well, Fishfinder, clean onboard toilet, and an ice box to keep your catch fresh.

Using light tackle techniques, Captain Thomas will guide you through everything you need to know to hook into these bottom-dwelling bruisers. Whether it’s your first time holding a rod or you’re a seasoned angler looking to check Blue Cats off your list, this trip is all about having fun, learning from a true local, and hopefully landing a fish that’ll give you a run for your money.

Your charter includes rods, reels, tackle, live bait, fishing licenses, and catch cleaning at the end of the day. A helpful and knowledgeable first mate will be onboard to assist throughout the trip—please remember a 15–20% tip is customary and greatly appreciated.

Just bring your favorite snacks, drinks, and your crew—and let Captain Thomas take care of the rest. For a springtime adventure packed with big fish potential and down-to-earth Chesapeake Bay charm, this 6-hour Blue Catfish trip is a can't-miss.
