The Texas Hill Country doesn't give anything up easy, and that's exactly why aoudad hunting out here is worth the effort. Ranon runs this three-day, two-night hunt across family-owned ranches near Leakey, putting serious hunters on free-ranging aoudad in some of the most rugged and rewarding terrain the Hill Country has to offer. This is a true Texas hunting experience, built for those who appreciate wild country as much as the animal they're after.

About Your Trip

The Texas Hill Country doesn't give anything up easy, and that's exactly why aoudad hunting out here is worth the effort. Ranon runs this three-day, two-night hunt across family-owned ranches near Leakey, putting serious hunters on free-ranging aoudad in some of the most rugged and rewarding terrain the Hill Country has to offer. This is a true Texas hunting experience, built for those who appreciate wild country as much as the animal they're after.

Aoudad
are not easy quarry. Known for their incredible eyesight, their affinity for steep and broken terrain, and their ability to disappear into the landscape the moment something feels wrong, these North African Barbary sheep demand patience, steady nerves, and the ability to make a good shot under pressure. Hunting from well-placed blinds over feeders gives every hunter in camp a legitimate opportunity, but the aoudad still has to cooperate, and that uncertainty is part of what makes a heavy ram stepping into range such a memorable moment.

Camp is kept intentionally small, with a two-person minimum and no more than six hunters at a time. That limit keeps the experience personal, the pressure on the animals manageable, and the atmosphere in camp genuinely social rather than crowded. Ranon is present throughout the hunt, bringing local knowledge of the ranches, the terrain, and the animals that only comes from years of running hunts on this same ground.

Lodging in a hunting cabin is included for the duration of the three-day, two-night adventure. Meal plans are available for an additional fifty dollars per person per night, a worthwhile addition for hunters who want to stay fueled and focused without worrying about food logistics in the field. Rifle rentals are also available for fifty dollars each, making this accessible for hunters who prefer to travel light or don't want to navigate the process of traveling with a firearm.

The Hill Country around Leakey is big, beautiful, and demanding, with long views across cedar-covered ridges and limestone breaks that challenge hunters to stay sharp and read the terrain. When an aoudad finally commits and steps into range, everything that led to that moment, the glassing, the waiting, the wind checks, makes the shot feel earned in a way that few hunting experiences can match.

Three days in this country with Ranon is part hunt, part Hill Country immersion, and entirely worth the trip.

Book your aoudad hunt with Ranon out of Leakey and take your shot at one of the most rugged and rewarding trophies in Texas.
