About Your Trip

If you're looking for a solo angling adventure in one of the most untouched fisheries on the planet, this 1 angler per room and boat package is built just for you. Set along Costa Rica’s remote southern Caribbean coast—within the wild and biodiverse Gandoca Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge—you’ll be fishing some of the most productive tarpon waters in the world with Giuliano and his expert local team.

This trip is all about personalized fishing, complete
flexibility, and the chance to disconnect in a place where the jungle meets the sea. With a boat and guide all to yourself, every day is tailored to your pace, your style, and your goals—whether that’s chasing massive tarpon on fly, targeting snook along the beach, or exploring the backwaters of Gondoca Lagoon.

The star of the show is the Silver King. These waters consistently produce tarpon in the 80–90 lb range, and it’s one of the few places where fish over 150–200 lbs are not just possible—they’re expected. Whether you’re casting lures, spinning gear, or flies, the fights are explosive and the chances at a true trophy are real.

In addition to tarpon, you might hook into snook, cubera snapper, jacks, kingfish, triggerfish, or even mahi-mahi depending on the time of year and water conditions. Want to switch up your target species or try a different fishing technique? Just let Giuliano or the lodge manager know, and they’ll make sure your guide is prepared to deliver.

Each day starts with breakfast and a short walk to the creek, where your private boat and guide will be waiting to take you to the fishing grounds—just 20 to 30 minutes away, depending on where the fish are biting. You can fish a split-day schedule with a lunch break back at the lodge or go for a full 8-hour day with lunch packed on the boat or enjoyed on the beach.

Daily Schedule (Split Fishing):

6:30 AM – Breakfast

6:50 AM – Depart for fishing

11:00 AM – Return to lodge

12:00 PM – Lunch

2:00 PM – Return to fishing grounds

5:30 PM – Return & Happy Hour (beer, rum, appetizers)

7:00 PM – Dinner

Your private room is cozy, air-conditioned, and just steps from the Caribbean. Each room includes a ceiling fan, private bathroom, comfortable bed, and peaceful beachfront or garden views. After a full day on the water, it’s the perfect place to relax, recharge, and enjoy the sounds of the sea and jungle.

Meals are a highlight, featuring fresh local ingredients and bold Creole flavors. From grilled snapper to tropical fruits and vegetables, the food is both nourishing and flavorful. Special dietary requests are happily accommodated—just let the team know in advance about any allergies or preferences, and they’ll take care of you.

Fishing runs during two peak seasons: Spring (late February through May 31) and Fall (August 1 through October 31). These are the best windows for consistent tarpon action, good weather, and the opportunity to land that fish of a lifetime.

Trip durations are flexible and include everything you need for a seamless solo fishing experience—private lodging, full guiding, all meals, and drinks during happy hour. Options range from 4 nights/3 fishing days up to 8 nights/7 fishing days.

This is a rare opportunity to experience one of the last truly wild tarpon fisheries, where each day is yours to shape and the jungle is your backdrop. With Giuliano’s crew running the show and an entire boat to yourself, this trip delivers the kind of personal fishing adventure that’s hard to find—and even harder to forget.
