Spend a full day on the legendary San Juan River with Captain JJ, exploring one of the country's most respected tailwater trout fisheries. Trips are available with start times of 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, or 9:00 AM, giving you the flexibility to choose the departure that best fits your schedule.

You'll fish from Captain JJ's 16' drift boat, a stable and comfortable platform designed specifically for floating rivers and accessing productive trout water throughout the day.

The San Juan is well known for its healthy populations of Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout, and depending on conditions, you'll have the chance to target both throughout the day. Using a variety of fly fishing techniques, Captain JJ will tailor the approach to the river conditions and your experience level, helping you make the most of your time on the water.

This trip is suitable for anglers of all experience levels. Whether you're picking up a fly rod for the first time or you're an experienced fly angler looking to refine your skills, Captain JJ will tailor the day to your experience and provide as much instruction as you'd like along the way.

All rods, reels, fly fishing gear, and tackle are included, along with lunch, light snacks, and bottled water. We recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any other personal items you'd like to have with you for a comfortable day on the river. Beer is welcome aboard as long as it's in cans—no glass containers, please.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
