About Your Trip

Climb aboard with Captain Mike for a top-tier smallmouth bass fishing experience on Lake St. Clair or Lake Erie—two of the best smallmouth fisheries on the planet. With over 30 years of experience fishing these lakes recreationally, competitively, and professionally, Mike brings an unmatched depth of knowledge to every trip and is dedicated to helping you fish confidently, learn something new, and have a great time doing it.

Mike runs a 2018 22’ Ranger 522D,
one of the most respected big-water bass boats out there. Built for speed, safety, and comfort, this rig is fully tournament-ready with top-tier electronics, an Ultrex trolling motor with Spot Lock, Garmin Livescope, Power Poles, dual air suspension seats, and more. Whether you're hunting giants in choppy spring weather or cruising calm fall flats, this boat is a serious fishing machine built to handle it all.

Mike’s trips are fully equipped with high-end gear from brands like Daiwa, Shimano, Duckett, Nishine, Mega Jigs, and Anglers Choice, ensuring you have the right tools in hand for targeting quality fish. Whether you’re working swimbaits, dragging tubes, or dropping jigs, the gear is dialed in and ready.

The focus here is on smallmouth bass, but in the fall, trips can include largemouth bass, and in April and May, walleye jigging trips are also available. Mike will work with you to tailor the trip to your goals, expectations, and skill level. Whether you're looking to set a new personal best, dial in your finesse techniques, or just enjoy a laid-back day exploring the lake, he’ll adjust the experience to fit.

Trips are catch-and-release focused for bass. Bring your Canadian fishing license (or U.S. if fishing American waters in spring), along with snacks, water, sunscreen, and a great attitude. Safety is taken seriously—life jackets are required while running—and if you have any medical concerns, be sure to communicate them before departure.

This trip is all about you. Want to stop at a local dockside restaurant for a bite? Prefer to cruise the lake and take in the views? Just say the word. Mike’s priority is creating a trip that fits your pace, your style, and your idea of a great day on the water.

Fishing can be unpredictable, but you can count on Mike to use every bit of his experience and effort to find fish and help you connect with a giant. While no one can guarantee the bite, he’ll put you in the best position to succeed.

Tips are never expected, but always appreciated. So bring your license, bring your questions, and let’s make it a day to remember on one of the best bass fisheries in the world.

I have been fishing these waters for 30 years recreationally, professionally and competitively. I will use the knowledge base I have accumulated to help you fish, and have a great time.

I run a 22’ 2018 Ranger 522d with a 250hp evinrude g2 HO, widely considered
the best big water bass boat on the market. It’s incredibly stable, safe, spacious, dry and fast. It is loaded and tournament ready, featuring an Ultrex trolling motor with Spot Lock, 4 graphs (Garmin and Humminbird), Garmin livescope, hydrowave, 10’ power poles with drift paddles, two air suspension seats for added comfort on bumpy days, dual livewells with oxygenators in both, pedestal seats, built in coolers and ample storage space.

I only use high end equipment for my clients. All rods, reels, baits and line are from well known reputable companies such as Daiwa, Shimano, Lews, Duckett, Anglers Choice, Mega Jigs, Nishine Lure Works, Seaguar and Ygk.

My goal is for you to have a great time first and foremost and catch the fish of a lifetime on the best smallmouth fishery on earth
