About Your Trip

Join Captain Nathan for an unforgettable Sturgeon fishing adventure on the St. Clair River, targeting one of the most powerful freshwater fish in North America. These trips depart from the Algonac Boat Launch and focus on fishing the deep channels and current seams where these prehistoric giants roam.

Sturgeon fishing on the St. Clair River is a unique experience, offering anglers the chance to hook into massive river monsters that can grow to incredible sizes
and put up long, powerful fights. Captain Nathan has spent his life fishing this river and knows the areas where sturgeon regularly feed and travel.

These trips typically take place in the evening and continue into the night, when sturgeon become especially active along the river bottom. Using heavy bottom fishing setups, you’ll anchor over productive areas and wait for the unmistakable pull of a sturgeon taking the bait.

You’ll fish from Captain Nathan’s 21’ Lund aluminum fishing boat, a stable and well-equipped vessel perfect for fishing the strong currents of the St. Clair River. The boat is outfitted with GPS, fishfinder technology, a live bait well, and a wireless trolling motor to help locate and position over the best structure.

All rods, reels, tackle, and bait are provided, so you can arrive ready to fish. Captain Nathan will guide you through the process and help you handle these impressive fish safely once one is hooked.

Sturgeon fishing in this river is typically catch-and-release, helping protect this incredible species for future generations while still allowing anglers the thrill of battling one of the largest freshwater fish around.

If you’re looking for a unique night fishing experience and the chance to hook into a true freshwater giant, Captain Nathan’s St. Clair River sturgeon trips are an adventure you won’t forget.
