Join Wilkus for a guided rock and surf fishing adventure along some of the most productive stretches of South Africa’s coastline. These 5-hour trips for up to two anglers are a great way to experience the excitement of Cape surf fishing while learning proven techniques from a knowledgeable local guide.

Fishing takes place along the coast between False Bay and Still Bay, where a mix of sandy beaches, rocky points, and reefy structure create excellent habitat for a variety of species. Depending on conditions and the time of year, anglers may target Kob (Kabeljou), Galjoen, Elf (Shad), Steenbras, Blacktail, and Hottentot.

These trips focus on rock and surf fishing, one of the most iconic forms of angling in South Africa. Wilkus will guide you through bait presentation, reading the water, and proper casting techniques to help you fish effectively from the shoreline. Whether you’re brand new to surf fishing or looking to sharpen your skills, the trip is designed to help you become a more confident and capable angler.

All rods, reels, tackle, and bait are included, so you’ll have everything needed to get started. Wilkus also offers casting clinics and technique instruction throughout the trip, helping anglers improve their distance, accuracy, and overall approach to fishing the surf.

These trips are limited to two anglers, allowing for a personalized experience with plenty of hands-on guidance.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
