About Your Trip

Head offshore with Captain Demar for a full-day halibut run along Oregon’s rugged coastline. These trips venture 25–35 miles out of Newport into deep water—often up to 700 feet—where Pacific Halibut are known to hold. It’s an early start and a true offshore experience, with 8 hours on the water (typically 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM) focused on putting you on quality fish.

You’ll be fishing with a mix of techniques depending on conditions, including
bottom fishing and deep dropping with both light and heavy tackle. While halibut are the main target, you may also encounter Lingcod, Rockfish (Black Seabass), and even Salmon at times. Whether you’re newer to offshore fishing or have plenty of experience, Captain Demar and his crew will walk you through everything and keep you dialed in throughout the day.

Your ride is a spacious 30’ Thunder Jet aluminum boat built for offshore conditions, powered by twin 175HP Suzuki engines and equipped with modern electronics, downriggers, and all the gear needed for a productive day. There’s a private onboard toilet for comfort, and a first mate is there to assist with rigging, baiting, and landing fish.

All rods, reels, tackle, and bait are provided, along with bottled water and soft drinks. At the end of the trip, your catch can be cleaned and filleted by a dockside processor so you’re ready to head home with fresh fish.

Just bring your fishing license, snacks, layered clothing, and a cooler for your fillets. Kids are welcome, and you’re free to keep your catch. Alcohol is allowed in moderation (no glass), and smoking is permitted outside the cabin.
