About Your Trip

Head out with Josh and prepare for an action-packed day of Great Lake fishing! The massive Lake Michigan is a perfect place to get the vast experience of ocean fishing while targeting freshwater Salmon and Trout!

On this 6-hour morning trip, Cpt Josh will take you into the Lake Michigan waters where you'll be going after Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Steelhead, Chinook Salmon, and Coho Salmon. Josh will take you trolling the open waters to attract these picture-worthy fish. Trolling trips are great because the boat and the knowledge of your guide take care of half the work for you. You get to sit back, relax, enjoy the breeze, and rest your arms while you wait for the reel to start screaming and your work to begin!

Josh will provide all rods, reels, and tackle. All you need to bring is sunglasses, sunscreen, warm clothing, an Illinois fishing license with a Salmon stamp, any snacks or drinks you might need, and a cooler to store your catches. Josh will happily clean any keepers for an additional fee. Book your trip today and come home with some tasty fish!

Founded by Captain Josh in 2015, Bama Breeze is a premier Lake Michigan charter fishing operation. Moored at North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, just 45 minutes north of Chicago, the Bama Breeze runs salmon and trout charters from April through October aboard a 40-foot sport fisherman.

A lifelong Illinois resident and Midwest outdoorsman, Cpt. Josh is a long-standing professional in the outdoors industry, having served as Head of Operations and COO for notable brands like Mystery Tackle Box and Googan Squad. Monday through Friday he maintains a professional corporate life, but come the weekend, you'll find him behind the helm of the Bama Breeze doing what he loves most. Whether it's a bachelor party, a family outing, a corporate event, or a serious trophy fish hunt, Cpt. Josh and his crew are focused on putting you on fish and making sure you have a great time doing it.

My dad was a part-time guide. When he passed while I was in college, I had to make the decision to either get into guiding to pay for our boat or sell the boat. I chose the boat.

What makes you different from other guides?

I do this for fun. I have a corporate career Mon-Fri 9-5. I choose to spend my weekends on the water showing people what Lake Michigan has to offer because I enjoy it.

All you need to bring is sunglasses, sunscreen, warm clothing, an Illinois fishing license with a Salmon stamp, any snacks or drinks you might need, and a cooler to store your catch.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
