About Your Trip

Step into one of the Midwest’s most iconic fisheries on a walk-and-wade trip along the Bois Brule River, targeting powerful, migratory Steelhead and seasonal salmon runs. This is a hands-on experience built around reading water, making the right presentation, and staying engaged from first cast to last.

Trips run in both spring (April–mid May) and fall (mid-August–November), when fish push into the river from Lake Superior. You’ll be targeting actively moving fish in current seams,
runs, and deeper holding water using techniques like fly fishing, centerpin setups, and spinning gear, depending on your preference and experience level.

This trip is approximately 4 hours of fishing with additional time for walking access, giving you a true immersion into the river environment. Every stretch of water is different, and you’ll be covering ground throughout the trip to stay on fish and adapt to conditions.

All rods, reels, and tackle are provided, and the focus is not just on catching fish but on helping you understand how to approach moving water and improve your overall skillset.

This is a catch-and-release fishery, preserving the quality of the river and its wild fish population for years to come.

Mack is a North Shore native who has spent years fishing the tributaries of Lake Superior and the Bois Brule River, building a deep understanding of how these systems fish across changing seasons.

Over the past decade, he’s dedicated thousands of hours to the Brule, focusing on migratory fish like Steelhead and salmon, as well as resident trout throughout the warmer months. His preferred methods include fly fishing and centerpin fishing, but he’s equally comfortable working with spinning gear when
conditions call for it.

His approach is centered on creating a personalized, hands-on experience, helping anglers not only catch fish but understand how to approach the river on their own. Whether you’re new to river fishing or looking to refine your technique, he keeps things approachable while staying focused on results.

More than anything, Mack values the resource—running trips with a strong emphasis on respect for the river, proper fish handling, and long-term conservation, ensuring this fishery remains as special as it is today.
