About Your Trip

Experience the quieter side of the Brule on a walk-and-wade trout trip targeting the river’s resident Brown, Rainbow, and Brook Trout, along with seasonal opportunities at migratory fish depending on timing.

These trips are typically run from May through September, when the river settles into a more technical, skill-driven fishery. You’ll focus on presentation, reading structure, and dialing in your approach, fishing pools, riffles, and pocket water throughout the day.

Trips run approximately 4 hours on the water, with a steady pace that allows you to cover productive water while learning how fish position and feed in a natural river system.

You’ll have the option to fish with fly gear, centerpin setups, or spinning tackle, keeping the trip tailored to your experience level and goals. Whether you’re learning the basics or refining your technique, this trip is designed to be both productive and educational.

All equipment is provided, and like all trips on the Brule, this is a catch-and-release experience focused on protecting the fishery.

Mack is a North Shore native who has spent years fishing the tributaries of Lake Superior and the Bois Brule River, building a deep understanding of how these systems fish across changing seasons.

Over the past decade, he’s dedicated thousands of hours to the Brule, focusing on migratory fish like Steelhead and salmon, as well as resident trout throughout the warmer months. His preferred methods include fly fishing and centerpin fishing, but he’s equally comfortable working with spinning gear when conditions call for it.

His approach is centered on creating a personalized, hands-on experience, helping anglers not only catch fish but understand how to approach the river on their own. Whether you’re new to river fishing or looking to refine your technique, he keeps things approachable while staying focused on results.

More than anything, Mack values the resource—running trips with a strong emphasis on respect for the river, proper fish handling, and long-term conservation, ensuring this fishery remains as special as it is today.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Mack will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
