Experience some of the most exciting fly fishing Michigan has to offer. These specialized evening and nighttime trips target large brown trout during the famous Hex hatch and mousing season, when trout leave their daytime hiding spots to feed aggressively under the cover of darkness.

During Hex season, anglers cast oversized mayfly imitations to rising trout feeding on one of nature’s largest mayfly hatches. During mousing trips, you’ll throw mouse patterns along riverbanks, log jams, and structure, often resulting in explosive surface strikes from trophy brown trout.

Whether you’re chasing your first nighttime trout or searching for the fish of a lifetime, this trip offers a unique opportunity to experience Northern Michigan’s legendary trout fisheries after dark. So let’s grab a headlamp and some bug spray and hit the water!

Captain Brian is a lifelong Michigan outdoorsman who has been fishing since he was a kid, learning the ins and outs of the water from his father at an early age. That foundation grew into a deep understanding of the region’s fisheries and a passion for helping others experience it firsthand.

After studying forestry in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, he discovered fly fishing and quickly became dedicated to exploring new water and refining his skills. He began guiding professionally in 2017 and has spent years on the water helping anglers of all experience levels find success.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Brian was a fantastic fishing guide. It was me and my two young boys and he did a great job of helping them out and moving around to find fish. Highlight was a 26 inch pike that my ten year old reeled in. Highly recommend and would use him again when in the area.

Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
