About Your Trip

Discover why Lake Erie has earned its reputation as the "Walleye Capital of the World" on this guided fishing charter with Captain John. Departing from Rocky Point RV Park and Marina near Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, this six-hour adventure puts you on some of the Midwest's most productive fishing grounds in pursuit of Lake Erie's famous walleye and jumbo yellow perch.

Fishing aboard a comfortable 27-foot Sportcraft, you'll head out across the lake to productive areas
that Captain John has spent decades learning. Equipped with GPS navigation, advanced fish-finding electronics, and specialized trolling gear, the boat is designed to efficiently cover water while providing a stable, comfortable platform for up to four anglers.

Throughout the day, Captain John will adapt the plan based on weather, water conditions, and seasonal fish movements. Depending on where the fish are holding, you'll primarily troll for walleye using proven presentations such as crankbaits and crawler harnesses or switch to bottom fishing techniques when targeting schools of yellow perch. Whether you're completely new to trolling or have years of experience fishing the Great Lakes, Captain John enjoys explaining the techniques, sharing local insights, and helping guests become more confident anglers.

Lake Erie's healthy fishery offers excellent opportunities throughout much of the season. Walleye are prized not only for their spirited fight but also for their outstanding table fare, while yellow perch are famous for traveling in schools that can provide steady action when conditions come together. Every trip is different, and Captain John uses his experience and local knowledge to put guests in the best possible position for success while making the most of the day's conditions.

Your charter includes quality rods, reels, bait, tackle, and all of the fishing equipment needed for the day. At the end of the trip, Captain John will professionally clean your catch so it's ready to take home and enjoy. All you'll need to bring is a valid Ohio fishing license if you're 16 or older, weather-appropriate clothing, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, your favorite snacks and drinks, and a cooler for transporting your fresh fillets home.

Whether you're planning a family outing, introducing someone to Lake Erie fishing for the first time, or looking to experience one of America's premier freshwater fisheries, this private charter offers a fun, educational, and rewarding day on the water with one of the lake's experienced local captains.
