About Your Trip

Spend the day exploring one of the West's premier wild trout fisheries on a guided walk and wade fly fishing adventure along the legendary Truckee River. Flowing from Lake Tahoe through the Sierra Nevada and into Nevada, the Truckee is famous for its challenging currents, diverse water, and healthy populations of wild brown and rainbow trout. Every bend offers something different, from pocket water and riffles to deep pools and long runs that reward patience, observation, and good presentation.

This trip is designed for anglers of every skill level. If you're brand new to fly fishing, your guide will teach the fundamentals of casting, reading water, fly selection, knot tying, and fish fighting techniques. More experienced anglers can fine tune advanced presentations, improve drift management, and learn the local strategies that consistently produce fish on one of the country's most technical rivers.

Because every trip is fully outfitted, there's no need to invest in expensive gear before your adventure. Rods, reels, flies, waders, and boots are all available if needed, allowing you to simply arrive ready to fish. Throughout the day your guide will share years of local knowledge while leading you through productive sections of river in both California and Nevada, helping you build confidence with every cast.

Whether your goal is catching your first trout on a fly rod or matching wits with one of the Truckee's famously selective wild fish, this trip offers an unforgettable day on the water surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Sierra Nevada.
