The waters of the Chesapeake Bay out of Pasadena, Maryland offer something worth experiencing at every hour of the day, and Captain Eric is ready to show you all of it. Aboard a 2022 Avalon pontoon boat with room for up to 6 guests, Eric offers a full menu of private charter tours designed around the natural beauty, wildlife, and atmosphere that make this stretch of the Bay one of the most scenic and accessible cruising destinations on the East Coast. Every tour includes Captain Eric, all safety equipment, and a Bluetooth stereo so your group can set the perfect soundtrack for the day.

We offer 3 and 4-hour private tours available at multiple times of day to fit your group's schedule and interests. For early risers, we offer a morning sunrise experience that puts your group on the water at first light, one of the most peaceful and rewarding ways to start a day on the Chesapeake. If you want to pair the morning with something a little more special, we also offer a 4-hour breakfast cruise that combines the beauty of the early Bay with a meal on the water for a truly memorable outing.

For nature lovers, we offer both morning and afternoon bird watching tours that take advantage of the Bay's remarkable diversity of shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors that frequent the Pasadena area throughout the year. Two departure windows give your group the flexibility to choose the time of day that works best and experience the species most active during each.

As the day winds down, we offer a sunset cruise that delivers one of the finest shows the Chesapeake has to offer, with 3 hours on the water as the sky lights up over the Bay. Captain Eric has spent a lifetime on the water, combining a passion for fishing with decades of experience studying and restoring aquatic ecosystems. A USCG-licensed captain with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management, he has worked in environmental restoration for more than 30 years, developing an unmatched understanding of the Chesapeake Bay, its tides, currents, and fisheries. After years of both recreational and serious fishing, Eric launched his charter operation to share his knowledge and help guests experience everything the Bay has to offer. Whether you're chasing fish or simply looking to enjoy a day on the water, Captain Eric is committed to providing a safe, educational, and memorable adventure.

How did you get started guiding?

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Captain Eric's love of fishing started early. He began his charter fishing career as a mate on Lake Ontario charter boats, learning the ropes from experienced captains. Eric holds a four-year degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. His deep understanding of fish behavior and aquatic ecosystems sets him apart from other charter captains. After moving to Maryland, Captain Eric ran his own environmental restoration company for over 30 years, specializing in stream restoration, wetland construction, and shoreline stabilization. This work gave him an intimate knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and its waterways. In January 2023, Eric launched Stella Charters to share his passion for fishing with others. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-timer, Captain Eric will work hard to put you on the fish and ensure you have an unforgettable day on the water.

Since this is a retirement Job for me I enjoy teaching people new fishing techniques and also educating them on the Chesapeake Bay. My goal is to make sure you have the best experience you can on the Chesapeake Bay because it has so many great things to offer. Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

We vet our guides and only partner with the best of the best. Our guides do their very best to keep you safe, show you a great time, and send you home with a memorable experience shared with family and friends.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
