About Your Trip

Head out on Lake Erie with Captain Jake for a trolling trip focused on Walleye and Steelhead. Jake has spent a lifetime fishing Lake Erie, first picking up a rod around five years old and eventually turning that lifelong passion into guiding. He enjoys sharing what he has learned over the years and teaching guests how to become better anglers along the way.

Depending on the trip you choose, you'll have either 4 or 8 hours to fish Lake Erie. Jake will adjust the game plan based on the season and current conditions, with Walleye and Steelhead as the primary targets. Trolling is the name of the game, and guests who want to get involved can learn how to set trolling rods, understand different spreads, and see how Jake adjusts his program throughout the day.

These trips are a great fit for experienced anglers looking to learn more about Lake Erie's fishery, but Jake is equally happy working with first-timers and families. Kids are welcome aboard, and his patient, hands-on approach makes it easy for anglers of different experience levels to enjoy the trip.

You'll fish aboard Jake's 26' Thunder Jet, a 2025 sportfishing boat powered by a 300HP Mercury. There's room for up to 6 guests, along with GPS, fishfinder, radar, a live bait well, ice box, downriggers, and a portable toilet with a privacy curtain. A fighting chair can also be used when needed.

Rods, reels, tackle, lures, and ice are provided, so you'll primarily need to take care of your Lake Erie fishing license and personal items. Bring non-spray sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, bottled water, snacks, and any other food or drinks you'd like for the day. Alcohol is permitted in moderation, but please leave hard liquor and glass bottles behind.

Whether you're chasing Lake Erie Walleye for the cooler, looking for Steelhead, or hoping to learn more about trolling one of the country's most productive freshwater fisheries, Captain Jake will work hard to put together a fun and educational day of fishing.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
