Get ready to battle one of the biggest and most powerful freshwater fish in the Pacific Northwest on a full-day sturgeon adventure with Captain Kirk!

These 8-hour trips are all about targeting giant White Sturgeon across the rivers of Eastern Oregon. Depending on seasonal conditions, Kirk can fish productive stretches of the Snake, John Day, Umatilla, and Columbia River near The Dalles, putting his decades of experience on these waters to work for your group.

Sturgeon fishing is a different kind of experience. These prehistoric fish are known for their incredible size and strength, making every hookup an opportunity for a serious fight. Kirk will provide the gear, bait, instruction, and river knowledge needed throughout the day, making the trip approachable for first-timers while still offering plenty of excitement for seasoned anglers.

All oversized sturgeon fishing is strictly catch and release, with an emphasis on safely handling these incredible fish and protecting the resource for future generations. Get your photos, enjoy the experience, and send your fish back into the river!

You'll fish aboard a 23' river boat powered by a 225HP Mercury with plenty of room for groups of up to 6 guests. Trips typically begin at 7:00 AM and run for approximately 8 hours.

Rods, reels, tackle, and live bait when applicable are provided. Guests should bring their own food and drinks, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection, polarized sunglasses, and a valid Oregon fishing license.

Whether this is your first encounter with a White Sturgeon or you're specifically traveling to Oregon in search of a giant, Kirk will provide a private day on the river built around quality fishing, local knowledge, and one seriously memorable fight.

Captain Kirk has been navigating rivers since he was just 14 years old, building a lifetime of experience fishing throughout the Pacific Northwest. He even spent time guiding the wild rivers of Alaska before returning to Oregon, where he has become especially passionate about chasing giant White Sturgeon, Salmon, and Steelhead.

With more than 20 years of hands-on guiding experience, Kirk knows the Snake, John Day, Umatilla, Columbia, and surrounding fisheries and understands how to adjust as seasons and river conditions change.

Kirk welcomes everyone from first-time fishermen and families to experienced anglers looking for their next serious river adventure. Expect plenty of instruction, stories, laughs, and opportunities for memorable photos along the way. His approach combines decades of river knowledge with a strong emphasis on safety, conservation, and making sure his guests enjoy their time on the water.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
