Lake Ontario Salmon & Trout Fishing Charter

Experience world class Lake Ontario salmon and trout fishing with **Captain Andy**, bringing over 20 years of fishing experience to every trip\. Whether you’re an experienced angler chasing a trophy King or catching your first salmon, the goal is to provide a safe, exciting and memorable day on the water.

Trip Timeline, Distance & Location

Charters primarily operate from the **Port Credit/Mississauga area of Lake Ontario. Guests arrive approximately 10–15 minutes before departure for boarding and a safety briefing.

Once we leave the harbour, we’ll travel to the most productive fishing water based on current conditions. Some days we’re fishing shortly after leaving the harbour; other days we may travel several kilometres offshore. Water temperature, currents, weather, baitfish and recent fish activity determine where we fish.

Once we reach our starting location, the trolling spread is set and the majority of the charter is spent fishing. We go where the fish are and continually adjust throughout the trip.

Boat, Crew & Amenities

You’ll fish aboard a fully equipped Great Lakes fishing boat specifically set up for salmon and trout trolling. Depending on the trip, a first mate may assist Captain Andy with equipment, netting fish and helping guests.

All rods, reels, tackle and specialized fishing equipment are provided, including downriggers, trolling equipment, modern electronics, navigation and required safety equipment.

Guests are encouraged to bring food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses and weather-appropriate clothing. Dressing in layers is recommended, as Lake Ontario can be considerably cooler than shore.

The Experience

This is a hands-on fishing charter. When a mature Chinook grabs a bait and starts screaming line off the reel, you’re fighting that fish.

Captain Andy will coach you through everything from handling the rod and maintaining proper line tension to working the drag and bringing your fish to the net. No previous experience is necessary, and families, children and first-time anglers are welcome.

For anglers wanting to learn more, Captain Andy is also happy to explain trolling techniques, electronics, water temperatures, lure selection and how we locate Lake Ontario salmon.

Customizable Trips

Every charter is adjusted to the guests and current fishing conditions. Trips can range from a relaxed family experience to a more technical outing for experienced anglers looking to learn Great Lakes trolling techniques.

Depending on the season and conditions, we can adjust locations, depths, target species, trolling speeds, lure programs and presentations. Morning and evening trips also offer different experiences, with evening trips providing the opportunity to fish into the sunset bite.

We don’t simply repeat yesterday’s program. Lake Ontario changes constantly, and we adapt to what the fish are doing that day.

Captain Andy combines more than two decades of fishing experience with a passion for helping people experience the incredible Lake Ontario fishery. From serious anglers to families and guests catching their first salmon, everyone gets involved.

We constantly monitor water temperature, currents, baitfish, weather and fish movement and adjust our program throughout the trip.

Expect plenty of laughs, hands-on fishing and screaming reels. When a mature Lake Ontario King takes off with hundreds of feet of line, you’ll quickly understand why people become addicted to this fishery.

Techniques & Target Species

Our primary technique is Great Lakes trolling, allowing us to cover water while presenting multiple baits at precise depths.

Depending on conditions, we use downriggers, divers, copper and weighted steel lines, spoons, flashers and fly combinations and meat rigs. Trolling speed, lure colour, depth and presentation are constantly adjusted according to fish activity and water conditions.

Our primary target is Chinook salmon famous for their size, power and incredible runs. Depending on the season, we may also catch Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout/Steelhead, Atlantic Salmon, Lake Trout and Brown Trout.

Whether you’re chasing a personal-best King, bringing your children out for their first salmon, celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an unforgettable day on Lake Ontario, we’ll do everything we can to put you in the middle of the action.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.
You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
