About Your Trip

Spend a few hours or a full day exploring the Allegheny River with Captain Jason! Launching from the Franklin and Oil City areas, these trips are centered around one of Western Pennsylvania's signature fisheries and can be tailored to fit your schedule.

Smallmouth Bass are the primary target, and the Allegheny offers some fantastic opportunities to battle these aggressive river fish. Depending on the season and conditions, Walleye, Northern Pike, Flathead Catfish, and even the
occasional Musky can also find their way onto the end of your line.

Captain Jason brings more than 25 years of experience to the water and is happy to make your trip as instructional or laid-back as you'd like. Newer anglers can learn more about reading moving water, finding productive areas, and presenting baits effectively, while experienced fishermen are welcome to jump right in and fish hard alongside him.

You'll explore the river aboard Captain Jason's 18' G3 jet boat, powered by a Yamaha jet and built to navigate the unique waters of the Allegheny.

There are several ways to get out on the water. Sneak in a 3-hour trip before work, finish your weekday with an evening session, spend 5 hours fishing a half day, or give yourself a full 8 hours to explore the river. Half and full-day trips also offer flexible starting times, allowing you to plan the experience around your schedule.

Whether you're looking to catch your first river Smallmouth, learn more about the Allegheny, or simply spend a great day outside with a rod in your hand, Captain Jason is ready to show you what this Western Pennsylvania fishery has to offer!

About Your Guide

Independent Guide
Captain Jason is a lifelong Pennsylvania angler with more than 25 years of experience on the water. His fishing story started like it does for many anglers, chasing Bluegill and Bass around farm ponds and walking miles of trout streams before eventually graduating to bigger boats, bigger water, and competitive fishing.

After getting into tournament Walleye fishing, Captain Jason quickly found success. That experience eventually led to years of competing alongside his brother, earning multiple tournament wins and twice qualifying
for a national championship. Along the way, he developed an extensive understanding of fish behavior, changing conditions, boat control, and the little adjustments that can turn a slow day into a productive one.

As his two sons grew up, Captain Jason stepped away from the tournament scene to focus on teaching them the same love of fishing and the outdoors that he'd developed years earlier. Now, he's excited to bring that experience to his guests.

Captain Jason fishes throughout Western Pennsylvania, from Smallmouth Bass on the Allegheny River to Walleye and Lake Trout on Lake Erie and the diverse urban fishery of Pittsburgh's Three Rivers. He also has extensive experience on lakes and waterways throughout the region and is always excited to explore new water.

His approach is simple: go fishing and have fun. Beginners can expect patient, hands-on instruction, while experienced anglers are welcome to get involved in every part of the day. Whether you're learning a new body of water, chasing a new species, or simply looking for a great excuse to get outside, Captain Jason looks forward to sharing a day on the water with you.
