Running directly through the historic heart of Florence, the Arno offers a unique setting where centuries-old architecture and Tuscan scenery meet a productive freshwater fishery. Alessandro has spent years learning these waters and will take you to productive stretches of river in search of catfish, including the powerful Wels Catfish that call the Arno home.

Once you reach the fishing spot, Alessandro will get you set up and walk you through the techniques used to target these fish. Depending on conditions, you'll fish along the bottom or beneath a float using live or dead bait. Whether you're an experienced angler or trying catfishing for the first time, Alessandro is happy to teach you the approach and help you get the most out of your time on the river.

Beyond catching fish, this trip is a chance to experience Florence from a local angler's perspective. Alessandro is passionate about the waters of Tuscany and loves sharing both the fishing and the surrounding ecosystem with his guests.

Rods, reels, tackle, bait, lures, snacks, and the necessary fishing license are included, so all you need to do is show up ready to fish!

For Alessandro, fishing started with a simple childhood curiosity about what might be living beneath the surface. Nearly eight years later, that curiosity has taken him across the incredibly diverse freshwater fisheries of Tuscany.

He began fishing for trout before moving onto Florence's Arno River, where he gained experience targeting carp and powerful catfish. More recently, his passion has taken him into the mountain streams of the Tuscan Apennines in pursuit of wild Brown Trout, as well as local lakes in search of Pike and other freshwater predators.

Alessandro specializes in spinning, catfishing, and fly fishing, and he loves introducing anglers to the variety Tuscany has to offer. His goal isn't simply to help you catch fish, but to share the scenery, wildlife, biodiversity, and local knowledge that make these waters special.

In 2021, Alessandro completed his professional fishing guide certification through AIGU.PP. Whether you're stalking trout in a mountain stream, casting for Pike on a Tuscan lake, or battling a giant catfish in the heart of Florence, he'll work to build the day around your experience level and interests.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.
You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
