For Captain Heath, fishing has never been just a hobby—it has been a lifelong passion. He has spent years fishing waters across the country, pursuing a wide variety of freshwater and saltwater species and constantly learning new techniques along the way. From inland lakes and rivers to the open waters of Lake Michigan and Florida’s Atlantic Coast, every experience has helped shape him into the captain and fisherman he is today.

Heath spent several years professionally guiding anglers on Lake Michigan and smaller inland lakes throughout the Midwest. During that time, he gained valuable experience not only locating and catching fish, but also working with anglers of all ages and experience levels. Whether helping someone catch their first fish or putting an experienced angler on a trophy, Heath discovered that one of the best parts of fishing was sharing the experience with others.

Despite fishing in many different places, Florida’s East Coast was the one destination that continued to draw him back. For years, Heath hauled his boat back and forth from Northern Indiana to Florida, spending as much time as possible exploring the waters around New Smyrna Beach, Ponce Inlet, and the Indian River. After years of making the trip south, he finally decided it was time to stop visiting and make New Smyrna Beach his permanent home.

Today, Captain Heath brings his years of fishing and guiding experience where he shares his passion for the water with locals and visitors alike. He enjoys targeting everything from hard-fighting redfish and other inshore species to exploring the nearshore waters off Florida’s Atlantic Coast.

More than anything, Heath believes a great fishing trip is about more than simply putting fish in the boat. It is about enjoying the water, learning something new, sharing a few laughs, and creating memories with friends and family. Whether you are an experienced angler looking for your next big catch or stepping onto a fishing boat for the first time, Captain Heath works to make every trip comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable.

Hunting and fishing have been lifelong passions for Heath, and he has no plans of slowing down. Now that he calls New Smyrna Beach home, he looks forward to continuing to explore Florida’s incredible waters and sharing those experiences with everyone who steps aboard Unwind.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
