About Your Trip

Head offshore aboard Iwa Kai, our 70-foot Striker sportfishing yacht, for a private fishing adventure departing from Honolulu’s Kewalo Basin. Your trip begins with a welcome and safety briefing before we head out along Oahu’s south shore toward the fishing grounds. Enjoy views of Waikiki and Diamond Head along the way. The route and distance offshore depend on your trip length, ocean conditions, and where the fish are biting.

Your captain and crew will help you settle in and guide you through the fishing action, whether this is your first offshore trip or you’re an experienced angler. Iwa Kai offers a spacious fishing cockpit, shaded seating, a comfortable cabin, an onboard restroom, and a kitchen. With room for up to 12 guests, she’s a great choice for families, friends, and groups who want space to fish and relax together.

We primarily troll offshore with lures, targeting Hawaii’s prized pelagic species, including Pacific blue marlin, yellowfin tuna (ahi), mahi-mahi, and wahoo (ono). Target species vary with the season and conditions, and every day brings different possibilities. The crew handles the spread and helps anglers when a fish strikes, making the experience approachable for newcomers while keeping everyone involved in the action.

Because this is a private charter, we can discuss your group’s priorities before departure and tailor the pace and fishing focus to your selected trip length and conditions. Longer trips allow more time to explore offshore grounds, while guests looking for a relaxed outing can discuss balancing fishing with coastal sightseeing. Let us know your experience level and any special requests when booking. Iwa Kai combines the excitement of offshore sportfishing with the space and comfort of a large yacht—all just a short departure from Waikiki.

We are a locally owned charter company based at Kewalo Basin in Honolulu, Hawaii. We offer private yacht experiences, sportfishing adventures, snorkeling excursions, and shared bottom-fishing trips, giving visitors and kamaʻāina a variety of ways to enjoy Oahu’s waters. Whether you’re planning your first ocean adventure or returning for another day of fishing, our team is here to help you find the right experience.

Our fleet includes Iwa Kai, a spacious 74-foot Striker yacht; Reel Life, a classic 48-foot Viking sportfishing boat; and Sashimi II, a 59-foot Delta that welcomes guests for shared bottom-fishing trips and private outings. With three distinct boats, we can accommodate different interests and group sizes—from a private day with close friends to a family gathering or company celebration.

Fishing is a big part of what we do. Our trips range from beginner-friendly bottom fishing to offshore sportfishing, with options for trolling, drift fishing, and exploring nearshore waters. Depending on the trip and conditions, anglers can target Hawaii favorites such as mahi-mahi, ono, ahi, and Pacific blue marlin. Our captains and crew help guests get involved, learn along the way, and enjoy the excitement of fishing in Hawaiian waters.

For those who prefer a slower pace, our private yacht outings offer time to relax, take in views of Waikiki and Diamond Head, and enjoy swimming or snorkeling when conditions permit. Birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, and time together all feel a little more special with Oahu’s coastline as the backdrop.

Everything Else to Know

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Kyle will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

We vet our guides and only partner with the best of the best. Our guides do their very best to keep you safe, show you a great time, and send you home with a memorable experience shared with family and friends.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
