About Your Trip

August brings one of the most anticipated salmon runs of the year to the mouth of the Columbia River! Join Captain Matt out of Astoria, Oregon, for a day targeting hard-fighting Chinook and Coho Salmon during the famous Buoy 10 fishery, often called the "Super Bowl of Salmon Fishing."

Each August, salmon push in from the Pacific Ocean as they begin their journey upriver, creating some exciting fishing opportunities around the mouth of the Columbia.
Captain Matt will work the productive waters around Astoria, following the tides, currents, and fish movement to put you in a good position to hook into these powerful salmon.

You'll be fishing aboard Matt's 24-foot Willie's jet sled, using heavy tackle trolling techniques to target salmon moving through the river. Most trips focus on trolling artificial lures, though cut bait may also be used depending on conditions and what's producing bites. Whether you're an experienced angler or trying salmon fishing for the first time, Matt will help you get comfortable with the gear and ready for the action.

All rods, reels, and tackle are provided, so just bring your fishing license, sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any snacks or drinks you'd like for the day.

With big salmon moving through, strong river currents, and the chance to battle a powerful Chinook or Coho, August at Buoy 10 is a special time to be on the water. Come experience one of the Pacific Northwest's most anticipated salmon fisheries with Captain Matt!
