About Your Trip

Head out with Captain Kleighton for an action-packed day of Austin Bass fishing! Lake Travis may be known for its water sports and party coves, but anyone who has put a few lines in the water knows it's a great fishery teaming with life.

On this 4 or 8-hour trip, Captain Kleighton will bring you out on Lake Travis to target some Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and Spotted Bass. All it takes to get one
of these on the line is classic light tackle, easy for beginners to learn and always fun for experienced anglers!

Captain Kleighton's techniques on Lake Travis aren’t all that different from some of the other regional lakes that he's fished. It’s a clear lake, with steep banks, and lots of rocks. Occasionally you’ll find brush and various types of flooded vegetation. Captain Kleighton likes to use light line and small baits to get as many bites as he can over the course of a day. If he's hunting for big fish specifically, he'll use big swim baits or larger profile soft plastics. Also, top waters do well at attracting big bass. His favorite top waters are the traditional popper and the walking cigar-style Zara Spook type bait.

Lake Travis is a huge body of water. It takes quite a bit of time to get from one end to the other. But, there are so many places to stop and fish. One could imagine a lake this size to have a variety of types of cover that fish like to hide in. Captain Kleighton tries to hit as many spots as he can in a day. This way he gives his client the best chance for success. Also, if the wind blows and he's isolated to one specific section of the lake, it’s no problem at all. He has a ton of GPS waypoints spread out all over the lake so wherever you end up, he's likely caught fish somewhere close by, recently.

You'll be fishing aboard Captain Kleighton's 19' Triton TR-186 bass boat with enough room for 2 anglers. Its 150 HP Mercury engine will get you from hotspot to hotspot in no time! Captain Kleighton will provide all rods, reels, and tackle. All you need to bring is a Texas Fishing License and any food or drinks you might want. Book your trip today and get ready to catch some fish!
