About Your Trip

If you're looking for the perfect combination of drag-screaming action, beautiful scenery, and calm waters, then this trip is your ticket. North Carolina's Outer Banks is a widely known as world-renowned fishing destination, but its vast, interconnected network of protected inshore sounds is often overlooked. This inshore environment is ideal for hooking up a record fish, whether you're chasing a personal best Redfish or a variety of other species, including Speckled Trout, Flounder, Striped Bass, Black Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Sheepshead, Cobia, Tarpon, and more.

On this trip, you'll employ several different techniques, from casting artificial lures to jigging the bottom to live-baiting. Captain Joey is an expert fisherman who has fished this area for his whole life, and knows exactly how to put you on the fish. In addition, he holds a degree in aquaculture and prides himself on his fishing knowledge.

On the day of the trip, you'll get off the dock aboard Captain Joey's 27' Custom Carolina skiff. She has a classic "Carolina flare" and is built to cut through choppy waves with ease. Plus, she's powered by a 225 HP Honda VTEC engine, so you'll be on the fish in no time. She's the ideal type of boat for fishing these waters, including shallower areas where certain species like to congregate. In addition, she features a bathroom, ample cabin space, a sighting tower for spotting fish such as Cobia and Tarpon, and all of the electronics you could want, from fishfinders to GPS and more.
Bring along a pair of polarized sunglasses, a hat, proper clothing, and sunscreen to maximize your experience on the water!

Captain Joey is much more than your average charter operator. He's been fishing the waters off of North Carolina for his entire life, ever since he caught his first fish on Claytor Lake with his dad and grandfather at age four. From then, he was hooked! Captain Joey got his first taste of offshore fishing as a mate on a fishing boat at age 15, catching tuna, billfish, bottomfish, and more out of the Oregon Inlet. In his spare time, he could always be found fishing with a family friend, a surf fishing guide, catching drum and spanish mackerel in the surf off Hatteras Island. He also frequently fished for speckled trout and flounder in the Pamlico Sound. In short, if it swims, Captain Joey has probably hooked it.
At 18, Joey started mating on charter boats out of Hatteras Inlet and began his dream of offshore fishing for a living, which he has done very successfully since.

In addition, Captain Joey has a degree in aquaculture and agricultural science, so you can trust that his knowledge more than matches his personal expertise. He prides himself in knowing and learning all he can about fish. He studies their habitats, feeding habits, growth cycles, and life cycles.
He’s always seeking new ideas and techniques to catch fish and has always been eager to learn from those who are willing to share their knowledge. It turns out that you can teach an old dog new tricks! With Joey’s vast knowledge of the history of fishing coupled with his in-depth understanding of new fishing techniques, you are sure to have one of the most exciting, entertaining, and educational fishing trips of your life! Capt. Joey is eager to share his knowledge and fishing experiences with all his customers. He loves helping others become better anglers. If you’re looking to learn about fishing or to fill your freezer (or both), Capt. Joey will work hard to ensure your trip is successful.
