About Your Trip

Get ready for a fun-filled day on the water with Captain James, running seasonal trips from May 1 through October 10th out of Ocean City, Maryland. With over 30 years of both recreational and commercial fishing experience, Captain James knows these waters inside and out—whether you’re fishing the bay, working nearshore wrecks, or taking on something a little bigger after the sun goes down.

Hop aboard a custom-built 23’ center console crafted by Tideline in
Hatteras, North Carolina. This one-of-a-kind Carolina design features a proud bow and sharp entry, delivering a smooth, dry ride even in choppy conditions. With a clean, spacious deck and high-end rigging, it’s the perfect platform for anglers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy a productive and comfortable day of fishing.

Depending on the time of year and your interests, you can target a wide variety of species. In the bay, expect steady action from Spot, Croakers, Bluefish, Rockfish (Striped Bass), and Flounder. If you’re looking for something bigger, head to the nearshore wrecks to go after Seabass, Tautog, and doormat Flounder using light tackle or bottom fishing techniques. Fly fishing is also available for anglers wanting a more technical challenge.

For something truly unique, book an evening shark trip and experience the thrill of going toe-to-toe with Sharpnose, Sandbar, and Sand Tiger Sharks—some reaching up to 300 lbs. These trips are strictly catch and release, but the excitement is second to none.

Captain James is not only a skilled fisherman, but also a passionate teacher. He’s always happy to share tips on techniques, rigging, reading the water, and more—making this a great experience for those looking to grow as anglers.

All the gear you need is provided, including rods, reels, tackle, lures, and fly fishing equipment. Live bait is caught when possible or purchased locally, and your fishing license is covered under the boat’s blanket permit. The cooler is stocked with water and soft drinks, and when you return to the dock, your catch will be cleaned, filleted, and bagged—ready to take home for a fresh dinner.

Whether you're planning a relaxed family trip, a light-tackle challenge, or an adrenaline-pumping evening shark mission, Captain James will deliver a fun, safe, and memorable day on the water.

James and Dave provided an amazing experience for our family. They gave us an opportunity to hunt the big trophies and, when they weren't biting, put us on some delicious tilefish. We pulled up fish consistently for a couple hours and went back to trolling for the big one. We weren't able to bag a big tuna or marlin, but James and Dave worked hard to put us on big fish, told great stories, gave us a beautiful boat ride and made sure we caught plenty of fish for the cooler. I'd definitely do it again. It is a long day out, so be prepared for sun and some motion sickness. Pre-dosing sensitive riders is a good idea.
