About Your Trip

If you're looking to target trophy-sized largemouth bass in heavy cover, this specialized trip with Wyatt is built for you. Designed around one of the most exciting and productive techniques in bass fishing, this trip focuses exclusively on hunting big bass buried deep in thick vegetation where many anglers never reach them.

The day begins with topwater fishing during the low-light hours of the morning, when bass are often most active. Few experiences in freshwater
fishing compare to watching a giant bass explode through the surface to crush a topwater lure. These aggressive strikes provide heart-pounding action and an unforgettable start to the day.

As the sun climbs higher and bass retreat into heavier cover, you'll switch gears and focus on one of the most effective trophy bass techniques available: punching thick matted grass. Using heavy-duty rods, braided line, and specialized weights, you'll make precise short pitches through dense vegetation to reach fish hiding beneath the canopy.

The thick grass mats create shade, cooler water, and ambush points that attract some of the biggest bass in the system. These fish often spend much of the day buried deep beneath the cover, making them difficult to reach without the proper equipment and technique. That's where punching shines. By driving your bait through the vegetation and presenting it directly to fish that rarely see lures, you'll have the opportunity to target the true giants that call these mats home.

This style of fishing is hands-on, technical, and incredibly rewarding. Every pitch has the potential to produce a trophy bass, and when a fish bites beneath the thick cover, the battle is immediate and intense. You'll need to react quickly and use powerful tackle to pull fish out before they bury themselves deeper in the vegetation.

Wyatt specializes in this approach and knows how to identify the most productive stretches of grass, locate key holding areas, and adjust presentations based on conditions throughout the day. His experience helps put anglers in position to target quality fish and learn the techniques that consistently produce big bites.

This trip is ideal for serious bass anglers, anglers looking to improve their flipping and punching skills, or anyone interested in targeting larger fish in a unique and exciting way. Whether you're chasing a personal best or simply want to experience one of the most effective trophy bass tactics around, this trip delivers plenty of excitement and opportunity.

Join Wyatt for a dedicated bass fishing adventure where heavy tackle, thick vegetation, and aggressive largemouth bass combine for a chance at an action-packed day on the water. With topwater explosions at first light and trophy hunting in the grass throughout the day, every cast brings the possibility of connecting with the bass of a lifetime.

Wyatt runs his own fishing guide business where he gets to share his love of fishing every day. His goal is to help you make your own fishing memories. For him, these guide trips are a dream come true; He gets to share in
his clients’ memorable experiences while doing something he enjoys.

Wyatt's favorite part about guiding anglers is when he gets to relive their excitement alongside them, whether it’s their first catch or maybe a notable trophy fish. Even better, he can’t help but to smile when a father takes his son fishing for the first time and he get the opportunity to help shape that memory!

More recently, he's been participating in tournament fishing for the past seven years. Competitive fishing has really taken him to the next level when it comes to landing fish!
