About Your Trip

Spring snow goose hunts in March. We hunt a few different locations in SD (yankton, de smet, Watertown) depending on weather. You will meet your guide in a designated location in the morning, then head to the field. For the multiday option, you will need to reserve a hotel.

South Dakota is the last stop in our spring snow goose season. We concentrate our efforts in the eastern Prairie Pothole Region of South Dakota. With large corn and beans fields, along with pastures and countless water sources, this area is a waterfowlers dream. A lot of the snow geese tend to slow down a bit and put on the feed bags when they get to this area of the midwest. Lots of birds stick around late into the spring season along with some good late juvie pushes. We utilize pits, A-frames, and layout blinds when we are in South Dakota. Your guide will meet you in the morning at a predetermined location, collect money, then head to the field. Once in the field, after your guide does a few spread adjustments and turns on electronic callers, your hunt will start. The average day in the field is 10-30 birds. 50-100+ bird days happen as well but are less common. 0-10 bird days can still happen as it is still HUNTING. Weather is a HUGE factor in the success of a snow goose hunt.

You will be hunting out of A-frame blinds in comfortable chairs. We typically hunt huge permanent spreads consisting of the highest quality equipment. We use anywhere from 2500-4000 decoys. High quality electronic callers and motion decoys. These are all day hunts typically with a lunch break. Groups of 6 or more get the field to themselves. Smaller groups are pairs up but always 8 hunters or less.

Shotgun, Shells, Appropriate attire for the conditions. For the multiday option, you will need to reserve a hotel.

You'll need to buy a hunting license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Alec will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 30 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 30 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
